GRADE 22 LOCATION OF POSITION MDH, Clifton T. Perkins Hospital Center, Jessup, MD Main Purpose of Job This position is the supervisory level of work in the provision of directing nursing care at a Court Involved facility in a ward on a twenty-four hour basis or for several wards during one shift. This position supervises lower-level Registered Nurses and other assigned licensed and non-licensed nursing care staff. This position receives general supervision from a Registered Nurse Manager, CI, Assistant Director of Nursing, CI or Director of Nursing, CI. This position is assigned to day, evening, night or rotating shifts which may include weekends and holidays. This position is subject to call-in during emergencies and staffing shortages. The work is performed at a Court Involved facility where care is provided to mentally ill patients who have been judged not criminally responsible for committing felonies, and to those who are difficult to manage in a less secure setting and who have been deemed dangerous to themselves or others. This position is required to observe infection control precautions in order to prevent contamination and spread of disease. This position may be required to lift patients or apply restraints. The work may require long periods of standing, walking, bending and reaching. This position is evaluated by using the classification job evaluation methodology. The use of this method involves comparing the assigned duties and responsibilities of a position to the job criteria found in the Nature of Work and Examples of Work sections of the class specification.
