Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit Nursing Assistant-Unit Coordinator. This is a 0.6 FTE Night shift position. Shifts are 8 hours and every other weekend . Nursing Assistant experience required. Purpose of Position This position provides both clerical support and patient care responsibilities. Clerical support is provided to the nursing departments through coordination of communication, transcription of provider orders, and maintenance of unit supplies. Patient care is provided by assisting the professional nurse in meeting basic activity of daily living (ADL) needs of the patient while maintaining an orderly and safe physical environment. Specific duties are determined by the work setting or patient population served; however, in all positions, serving patients with challenging and complex conditions requires a concentration of specialized staff able to work in highly coordinated teams. We organize care around each patient’s condition which requires staff at multiple levels and across many departments to exhibit exceptional teamwork qualities including communicating efficiently and effectively and adopting the behaviors required for high functioning integrated teams. Compensation & Benefits: The hourly wage for this opportunity is $21.00/hour to $29.40/hour, with a median wage of $24.50/hour. Pay is dependent on several factors including relevant work experience, education, certification & licensure, and internal equity. Responding to a decentralized nursing care delivery system. Accurate transcription of provider orders. Serve as a patient safety attendant according to policy and guidelines, focusing on the safety of the patient in medical or behavioral situations, including suicide precaution situations. Protects the confidentiality of personal health information. Qualifications: Required: High school diploma/GED Current CPR certification (BLS for Healthcare Providers by the American Heart Association) is required. If candidate holds valid CPR for Healthcare providers through another acceptable organization (as determined by Gillette), candidate may be able to begin employment but must complete CPR BLS for Healthcare Providers by the American Heart Association within one month of employment. Reports to nurse on units for written and verbal assignments which include daily use of care plans for assigned residents/tenants before initiating care. Participates in the planning of resident care through shift reports and resident care staffing meetings when assigned. Informs verbally and/or submit in writing any observations and changes in a resident for the licensed nurse to evaluate including dietary intake. Serves residents/tenants their meals; motivates and assists them with intake of nourishment and fluids. Answer all call signals and requests of residents/tenants immediately. Encourages/assist residents/tenants in keeping their rooms clean and orderly; assists with making beds. Maintains nursing unit in a clean and orderly manner. Keeps all residents/tenants’ personal belongings and equipment clean. Escorts residents/tenants to appointments and/or therapy departments as scheduled. Participates in unit activity programs planned for residents/tenants as needed. Attends and participates in unit nursing staff meetings and mandatory in-services. Performs a total inventory of all resident’s possessions on admission, discharge or transfer. Ensures all residents/tenants’ possessions are properly labeled. Responds to resident emergency including bleeding, falls, seizures and performance of Heimlich maneuver. Assists with post-mortem care as assigned. Transports dietary carts and linen carts.
