Medical Assistants provide clinical support, assist with administrative tasks, and provide general support in an ambulatory setting under the direction or supervision of the patient’s physician or LIP/RN designee in accordance with policy, procedure and competency to promote patient health and wellness. Clinical support services include but are not limited to preparing laboratory specimens, performing testing (i.e. point of care testing, CLIA waived testing ECG/EKG, spirometry, venipuncture/phlebotomy, specimen collection, etc.), appropriate cleaning and sterilization of instruments/equipment and rooms, disposing of contaminated supplies, performing wound care, administering medications. Organizes and prioritizes daily work assignments to support patient needs, the interdisciplinary team, and operational efficiency. Implements age-appropriate interventions based on individual patient needs as directed by the Health Care Provider (HCP). Reinforces patient/family teaching plan based on identified health education needs and the condition and age of the patient through approved educational materials or written instructions. Provides for a safe environment and safe delivery of care. Maintains supplies and equipment. Document and capture charges for clinical support services rendered within the patient visit. Performs administrative support responsibilities. As directed and in accordance with documented competencies, provides administrative support to licensed healthcare professionals. Administrative support services include but are not limited to draft letters and/or assist with completion of forms, facilitate scheduling, pend medication refills, assist with coverage of in basket messaging, assist with clinic/chart prep. Demonstrates teamwork in the delivery of patient care. Recognizes the importance of time sensitive issues. Assumes responsibility for professional development of self and others according to departmental policy. In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Experience: None required. Licensure: American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required. Addresses referral based phone calls for Primary Care Physicians panel. Completes and addresses phone messages within 24 hours of call. Checks out patients based on their assigned physician/clinician. (Note: If assigned Care Coordinator is unavailable at the time of check out, a colleague shall assist patient. This process does not apply to Care Specialist) Retrieves consultation notes from the consult tracking tool. Follows up on all Home Health and DME orders to ensure patient receives services ordered. Job Summary The Medical Assistant Training Coach partners with our Learning and Operations teams to deliver an exceptional, connected onboarding and training experience for new and existing team members. This role is responsible for leading practical skills training using an organized, competency-based model. The Training Coach supports a variety of learners—including new hires, internal transfers, and team members requiring additional coaching—ensuring they develop the critical thinking skills, confidence, and clinical competencies needed for success. This role also supports Medical Providers, Radiologic Technologists, and patients through patient care, operational tasks, and communication. Summary GENERAL SUMMARY The Medical Assistant is a multi-skilled individual that works in a healthcare setting to support the non-clinical and clinical functions of the service area. Supports and performs clerical functions as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS Current registration/certification as a Medical Assistant, higher level clinical certification (LPN, RN, or higher), or military medical experience preferred. CPR training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Graduate of an approved accredited allied health program or clinical program. One to two years of experience in a related healthcare field preferred. Must provide record of a completed diploma (or equivalent) or academic transcript for those areas performing complexity testing. WORKING CONDITIONS Expected to work in a patient care environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards such as, but not limited to, excessive noise, dust, or extremes in temperatures. Exposure to communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions due to the need to perform certain patient care activities can be expected.
