General Summary:
Under the direction of the Service Chief/ Lead Psychiatric plans, assesses, implements, and evaluates treatment/ care to assigned patients. Conducts individual and family therapies; manages medications and performs psychiatric assessments/ evaluations as delegated. Assists with the clinical administration of patients by obtaining medication pre-authorizations, tracking lab data, and participating in the clinical database. Completes appropriate documentation in the electronic medical record.
Principal Responsibilities and Duties:
Quality of care
- In collaboration with the Service Chief, plans, assesses, implements and evaluates psychiatric care for assigned caseload of patients.
- Manages and prescribes medications as appropriate or makes recommendations to Service Chief for adjustments in medications.
- Performs psychiatric assessments as needed
Documentation:
- Completes appropriate documentation in the electronic medical record according to Sheppard Pratt and professional standards
- Collaborates with Service Chief and clinical team members to discuss patient treatment concerns

- Works effectively with medical team, colleagues, supervisors and deals respectfully with patients, families and other
Requirements:
- Requires graduation from an accredited nursing program plus graduate education or graduation from an accredited nurse practitioner program
- Requires current license as a registered nurse and possession of American Nurses Credentialing Center certification as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at time of appointment and continuously throughout tenure in position
- Must have at least 2 years post-grad experience working with child and adolescent population
- Work requires analytical ability sufficient to evaluate and determine the health status of assigned patients/clients, supply appropriate documentation and make appropriate referrals
- Work requires interpersonal skills, sufficient to effectively interact with patients/ clients, staff and physicians
- Work completing patient histories, performing examinations and responding to medical emergencies
