Responsibilities
The Sepsis Coordinator is accountable for assessing and overseeing the management of potential Septic patients or those who have been diagnosed with Sepsis. Serving as a role model, the Sepsis Coordinator provides clinical and professional guidance, makes ethical decisions in practice and conducts needs assessments. The Sepsis Coordinator provides education programs that meet the needs of the patients, staff, and the organization. The Sepsis Coordinator serves as a professional practice and clinical expert at the bedside and in the classroom. The Sepsis Coordinator ensures that septic patients receive appropriate care in a timely manner. The Sepsis Coordinator may participate in collaborative research activities that align with the mission/vision/values of the system, identifying quality/performance improvement opportunities, and addressing staff development issues as needed throughout the organization.
Qualifications
REQUIRED:1. Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing or equivalent. 2. Minimum (3) years of clinical experience within the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, or other Critical Care setting. 3. Minimum (2) years of leadership experience. 4. Proven ability with effective analytical and organizational skills. 5. Effective oral and written communication skills. 6. Demonstrated ability to educate others and serve as a positive change agent; knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design. 7. Valid certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). 8. Knowledge & experience with utilization of AV/media resources for educational programs. PREFERRED:1. Masters Degree in Nursing or a related field from an accredited college or university. 2. Board Certification applicable to specialty.
