Position Description:
The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) is responsible to the Director of Women’s Services and supervising neonatology section in accordance with the collaborative practice agreement and NNP scope of practice. The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, under the direction of neonatology medical staff, will provide primary medical management in the NICU for infants under the care of the neonatology section, including assessment and management of patients, education, and research and program coordination. The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner will assist in the development and implementation of clinical standards and practices. The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner assures that standards for a professional advanced nursing practitioner in the clinical setting are maintained.
Qualifications:
1. Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
2. Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner Program.
3. Current license and certification as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Louisiana by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
4. Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
5. Five years of professional nursing experience in a clinical setting preferred.
