36 hours per week, three 12 hour shifts, 7:00 am - 7:30 pm plus 2-3 weekend day

OrthoIndy Hospital Northwest, located in Indianapolis, Indiana,
provides outpatient care and inpatient care, with 10 operating rooms and a
42-bed inpatient unit for patients undergoing more invasive procedures, such as
disc replacement, spinal fusion or total hip and knee joint
replacement. Other services include an urgent care, clinics, pre-op
clinic, imaging and physical therapy.
General Statement of Duties:
The Nursing Technician Inpatient works under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN), performing a variety of tasks delegated by the RN, to care for patients. The Nursing Technician completes assigned tasks and reports information about patients to the RN. The Nursing Technician assists with daily living needs, records vital signs, and performs other skills as trained by OrthoIndy.
Essential Duties:
- Assists with and documents activities of daily living.
- Observes, documents, and reports patient conditions and behaviors to the Registered Nurse.
- Obtains, documents, and reports vital signs and fluid intake and output.
- Reinforces patient and family education as directed by the Registered Nurse.
- Performs phlebotomy as directed by the Registered Nurse.
- Discontinues IV and urinary catheters as directed by the Registered Nurse and documents removal.
- Performs EKGs and bladder scans when directed by the Registered Nurse.
- Provides and documents skin care as directed by the Registered Nurse.
- Restocks linens and supplies on the unit.
- Assists in the cleaning of equipment, furniture, and surfaces using appropriate aseptic technique and returns equipment to appropriate areas as needed.
