Responsibilities
The Mayo Clinic Health System Student Nurse Internship Program in Eau Claire, Wisconsin is a paid internship for nursing students; providing opportunities to gain valuable experience and clinical skills. Interns rotate through clinic and hospital departments including those in Eau Claire, Osseo, Menomonie and/or Barron. The program runs for 11 weeks, beginning May 28th, 2024 and ending August 9th, 2024.
The deadline to apply is Monday, December 18th, 2023 at 5:00 CST.The Student Nurse Intern provides direct and indirect patient care under the direct supervision of a registered nurse in the appropriate setting across the continuum of care. He/she communicates with the registered nurse about changes in the patient’s clinical condition, results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. The student nurse intern is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in the patient’s condition or response to treatment. Additionally, the student nurse intern is able to perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision. The American Nurses Association (ANA) Scope and Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics provide a basis for practice.
Qualifications
Must be qualified to graduate from a baccalaureate nursing program (BSN) or associate nursing program (ADN) by December 2024 or May 2025. Additional Qualifications:
Must be available to participate in the entire 11 week program.Clinical experience and course work including nursing fundamentals, pharmacology and basic nursing skills. Flexibility with work schedule. Basic computer skills. Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Problem solving, verbal and written communication, and team building. Basic quality improvement concepts and techniques.
License or certification:
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for the Healthcare Provider or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. This certification must be current through August 2024. If your certification expires prior to August 2024, please include a copy of your current card with a note that you will renew your certification before it expires.

Schedule Details
Rotations are scheduled Monday through Friday, day and/or evening shifts. There are shadowing opportunities available through each rotation and professional development learning opportunities throughout the program.
