Urgent Care Nurse Manager

Purpose of Position: To provide professional nursing care and support for patients receiving treatments, examinations, evaluations, etc. General management of Urgent Care Facility. Responsible for day-to-day management and coordination of care, staffing, performance improvement and operational flow

Description

  • Coordinates care for patients in the Urgi-care setting. Coordinate activities to ensure that office operations conform to principles of good clinical care; create and monitor office systems that promote customer service and customer satisfaction and maximize center efficiency.
  • Directly supervises employees of the Urgent Care Center. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, selection and training employees; scheduling, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining/counseling employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Recommends personnel actions, addresses conflicts among staff and brings them to a resolution.
  • Provide professional nursing care and support for center patients receiving treatments, examinations, evaluations, etc. Through the nursing process of assessment and evaluation while maintaining standards of professional nursing within the realm of departmental policy.
  • Under the direct supervision of the Physician assist in providing nursing care to center patients. Triage and evaluate patients, obtain major complaints and brief medical history when necessary and take vital signs with complete chart documentation (including name, medical record #, allergies, current medications with routine update with each visit).
  • Ensure staff provides quality safe care according to current standards of practice for administration of procedures/treatments/medications.
  • Ensures staff documents according to entity/dept. guidelines
  • Oversees the maintenance and filing for administrative and patient records and correspondence, as well as inter and intradepartmental correspondence, reports, etc. in accordance with accepted office practices and procedures.
  • Coordinate and monitor billing operations.
  • Maintains medical records; ensures compliance with policies and procedures and acceptable medical record keeping practices. Assists in the preparation of medical records for utilization review.
  • Ensures that incoming calls are handled in an efficient, customer friendly manner, managing the flow of calls to proper staff members, maintain the messaging system.
  • Oversees daily mail operations, as appropriate.
  • Purchases equipment and materials required for the day-to-day operations of center; overall responsibility for coordinating building maintenance. Insure proper level of stock and maintenance of necessary supplies, equipment, precautionary cart and pharmaceuticals weekly
  • Prepares administrative and management reports, correspondence. Conducts special projects and related activities for the practice as requested.
  • To maintain patient rights and confidentiality of information. Serve as an advocate and provide a safe and secure environment. Participate in identification of the important aspects of care for each patient, the identification of indicators used to monitor the quality and appropriateness of care.
  • Assess personal and learning developmental needs and act as a resource person. Conduct staff meetings and other activities which promote the growth and developmental of nursing and patient care.
  • All other duties as assigned or necessary.

Qualifications

  • BSN, Current RN Licensure in MA
  • 3 - 4 years of clinical experience in emergency, critical care or urgi care settting.
  • Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience
  • Proficient in computer applications.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Current Basic Life Support Certification.
