Job Summary

Medical assistant (MA) is positioned within the workforce to gather, screen, communicate and act based on delegation from a provider, registered nurse or Licensed Practical nurse as per scope of practice.
The MA performs a combination of clerical and direct patient care duties.
Clerical responsibilities include greeting patients, answering telephones, scheduling appointments, and updating patients electronic medical record (EMR).
Clinical responsibilities include rooming patients, taking medical histories, performing and recording vital signs, preparing exam room for procedures, explaining treatment procedures to patients, preparing patients for examination, facilitation of patient flow through the office, and assisting the Physician, Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant during examinations.

Summary GENERAL SUMMARY The Medical Assistant is a multi-skilled individual that works in a healthcare setting to support the non-clinical and clinical functions of the service area. LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS Required Licenses and/or Certifications CPR training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire. Must provide record of a completed diploma (or equivalent) or academic transcript for those areas performing complexity testing. Preferred Licenses and/or Certifications Current registration/certification as a Medical Assistant or military medical experience preferred. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Required Education and Experience Successful completion of an accredited medical assistant program or a recognized medical assistant certification. Preferred Education and Experience One to two years of experience in a related healthcare field preferred. WORKING CONDITIONS Expected to work in a patient care environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards such as, but not limited to, excessive noise, dust, or extremes in temperatures.
