Essential Functions:

• Conduct business in a professional manner and work as a team with other members of the clinic

• Deliver direct patient care to patients as assigned, using established procedures

• Document history; recording and reporting pertinent observations and patient reactions to staff, as appropriate; document lab procedures and ensure follow up on results

• Use screening procedures, including medical history review, and observe and document patient vital signs as required

• Maintain quality results by running standards and controls

• Prepare exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments

• Verify equipment function through routine equipment maintenance and advanced trouble-shooting; calibrate equipment utilizing approved testing procedures; monitor quality control measures and protocols

• Train other technicians or workers

• Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden adverse developments during treatments

• Performing other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, laboratory and treatment room procedures

• Common knowledge of safety hazards and precautions

• Ability to read, understand and respond to detailed oral and written instructions

• Must be able to read and write medical terminology

• Possess the ability to react calmly and effectively in emergencies

• Must be able to take and record vital signs, maintain records, point-of-care testing, record results, and administer injections.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Experience with blood draws, injections, rooming patients, med refills, etc.

• CMA certification from the NHA, NAHP, AAMA, or NCCT

Preferred qualifications:

• One-year experience as a Certified Medical Assistant in a clinical setting

• Spanish bilingual, fluent

Environmental Conditions:

Works in a well-lit, heated and ventilated building. Exposure to blood borne pathogens may be high.

Physical Requirements:

Full range of body motion including lifting and handling patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. This position requires standing and walking for extensive periods. Also, requires correct vision and hearing to normal ranges. Occasionally lifts and carries up to 25 pounds. Works under stressful conditions and working irregular hours.
