Purpose of Position:

Provide patient and family focused care in accordance with NSHC’s policies and procedures while applying standards for professional Certified Medical Assistant practice in the outpatient setting.

 

Uphold the organization’s vision, mission, and corporate values.  Demonstrate understanding of and compliance with organization’s policies, procedures, code of conduct and work rules.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Intake patients by obtaining vital signs, verifying allergies and all medications that the patient is currently taking, documenting chief complaints before the patient is seen by the physician
  • Obtain laboratory results for review by the physician, setting up and assisting with procedures, and entering labs as ordered 
  • Perform various injections such as intradurmal, intramuscular, and subcutaneous, and phlebotomy as ordered
  • Administer oxygen therapy by nasal cannula or face mask as ordered by the physician
  •  
  • Perform electrocardiograms, suture removal and wound care, patient education and assist with minor surgery
  • Ensure patient follow-up care and scheduling of appointments
  • Prepare and stock examination rooms
  • Perform other duties as assigned
