Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Progressive Care Unit at CHI Health St. Elizabeth is a 24-bed stepdown unit, incorporating a multidisciplinary approach to care for patients with many disease processes. As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering the highest quality patient care according to the specific orders of each patient’s individual physician. This will involve utilizing your knowledge and skills to educate patients and their families on prevention and healthy habits.

Compensation: Base rate + shift differential

Incentives: up to $10,000 sign on bonus, up to $10,000 education assistance (must have graduated within 5 years)

Tuition Reimbursement - $5,525 for full time and $2,750 for part time

Job Requirements

We are looking for a responsible and compassionate Registered Nurse with top-notch clinical skills, a caring attitude, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. It is also important to display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to effectively educate patients and their families on the in-home healthcare process.

Additional requirements for this role include:

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license that allows you to practice in our state
Graduate of an accredited nursing program
Experience as a Registered Nurse preferred
Basic Life Support (BLS) required
Specialty certification (ex: PCCN, CCRN, CNOR, CEN) preferred
Additional certification or licensure may be required for some specialty areas

PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values. 2. *Maintains flow of patients in accordance with time of appointment in order to avoid delays for the provider and undue waiting for patients. 3. *Collects subjective and objective data and contributes to the assessment of the patient; documents appropriately in the patient chart. 4. *Makes accurate and timely observations and documents changes in the patient’s condition in the patient chart. 5. *Retrieves messages and responds to calls from patients, pharmacies, hospitals, nursing homes and other medical offices by use of telephone and computer in a timely manner as delegated by licensed heath care provider (MD, PA, NP). 6. *Assists the medical provider with all examinations and procedures. 7. *Keeps the exam rooms clean, disinfected and stocked with necessary supplies. 8. *Schedules follow-up procedures/appointments and specialty appointments. 9. *Explains tests and preparation as needed for adequate patient education. 10. Monitors inventory of supplies and communicates information to Practice Manager. 11. *Administers injections, vital signs, vision and auditory testing as delegated. 12. * Prepares patient for x-ray, explains procedures to patient and/or family, and prepares room, equipment and materials as needed. 13. * Transmits x-ray images to radiology group for interpretation. 14. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise. 15. Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned. 16. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from an accredited professional nursing program required. Current Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska or approved compact state of residence as defined by the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act required. Completion of accredited limited radiology technologist program required. Current registration with the State of Nebraska as a Limited Radiographer to perform Core, Chest, Extremities and Spine x-rays. OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS: Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required.
