About the Role:

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Dermatology plays a critical role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered dermatologic care across a diverse patient population. This position involves diagnosing and managing a wide range of skin conditions, from common ailments to complex dermatologic diseases, ensuring optimal patient outcomes through evidence-based practices. The role requires collaboration with dermatologists and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including medical, surgical, and cosmetic interventions. Additionally, the practitioner will educate patients on skin health, preventive care, and treatment options, fostering long-term wellness and disease prevention. Ultimately, this position contributes significantly to the overall success of the dermatology practice by enhancing patient satisfaction, improving clinical efficiency, and supporting continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) license in Oklahoma
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Experience or clinical training in dermatology, including knowledge of common dermatologic conditions and procedures.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DEA licensure for prescribing medications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Board certification or eligibility in dermatology for Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants.
  • Experience working in a dermatology clinical setting.
  • Advanced certifications related to dermatologic procedures or cosmetic dermatology.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) system: Meditech Expanse
  • Strong background in patient education and counseling specific to dermatologic health.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive dermatologic assessments, including history taking, physical examinations, and diagnostic testing.
  • Diagnose and treat a variety of skin conditions such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, skin infections, and skin cancers.
  • Perform dermatologic procedures including biopsies, excisions, cryotherapy, and laser treatments under the supervision or collaboration with dermatologists.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, monitor patient progress, and adjust therapies as needed.
  • Educate patients on skin care, disease prevention, and treatment adherence to promote long-term skin health.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and participate in case discussions and clinical meetings.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with regulatory standards and practice policies.
  • Stay current with advances in dermatology through continuing education, professional development, and participation in relevant research or quality improvement projects.
