Summary

Responsible for assisting surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in various surgical procedures and playing a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of the operating room.

Essential Functions

-Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures.

-Set up sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment required for the surgery.

-Transport patients to the operating room, help with positioning on the surgical table, and ensure their safety and comfort during the procedure.

-Pass instruments, supplies, and equipment to the surgical team during procedures.

-Follow proper sterilization techniques to ensure the cleanliness and sterility of surgical instruments and supplies.

-Maintain accurate and complete documentation of surgical procedures, including counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments used.

-Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other members of the surgical team.

-Assist in preparing the surgical site by applying sterile drapes and solutions.

-Secure and manage surgical drains and catheters as directed by the surgeon.

Qualifications

This Team is interprofessional representing expert surgical technologists, nurses, surgeons, anesthesiology, and support personal with many of our surgeons and anesthesia team practicing at both Salem and MGH. The Operating Room is state of the art with a Hybrid OR and a well-developed Robotic Surgical Program with the DaVinci Xi robot for a variety of General Surgery, Urology, and Thoracic Procedures. Additionally, the Robotic Surgical Program has expanded to support Orthopedic hip and knee replacement procedures with the MAKO Stryker Robot.
