Surgery Center of Allentown is looking to hire a full time experienced RN to work in both preop/pacu. No weekends or Holidays but must be flexible with hours. Key Responsibilities in pre-operative care: Ensures patient readiness for surgery including, but not limited to, NPO status, medication administration, surgical site verification and marking and chart completeness. Post anesthesia care responsibilities: Performs comprehensive assessment of patient’s clinical condition and psychosocial needs inclusive of caregiver needs during the post-operative period. Coordinates and supervises teaching and education to the patient and caregiver regarding recovery and post-operative instructions. The individual will need to work cooperatively with staff and physicians and perform a variety of tasks and responsibilities including, but not limited to, preparation of patients for procedures, administration of eye drops, IV placement, post-anesthesia recovery, pain management and patient education. Requirements: Candidate must demonstrate proficiency in nursing assessment and skills, be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing, and have a current license in the state of Connecticut to practice as a registered nurse. Candidate must be positive and energetic, a strong team player, and an excellent communicator; be able to prioritize multiple tasks; and have strong decision-making skills.
