The Surgical Technologist II performs various tasks supporting perioperative services, including preparation of operating room, transport of patients, supplies, equipment, and specimens. This position assists surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other members of an operating room team by preparing patients for their procedures, sterilizing equipment, and maintaining environmental cleanliness before, during and after surgical procedures. This position, also, provides technical assistance to surgeons by anticipating and passing instruments, assuring the functioning of instruments, and keeping instruments free of debris during surgical procedures. The Surgical Technologist measures and passes medications, hemostatic agents and other solutions.

Arrange instrument trays
Prepare sterile drapes and solutions,
Assist with prep of patients as needed.
Pass instruments to surgeons and surgical assistants.
May assist with sponge, needle, and other supply counts to track materials used in surgery.
May operate suction, diagnostic, and sterilizing equipment, and package specimens to take for laboratory analysis.
Surgical and minimally invasive procedures, including:
Coronary artery bypass
Valve repair and replacement
Carotid endarterectomy
Video-assisted thoracic surgery for lung procedures
EVAR
TEVAR
Minimally invasive heart procedures, including TAVR
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma/GED Required
1 year Surgery Preferred
Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association within 90 Days Required and
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through NBSTSA Required
