CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT- PULMONARY MEDICINE

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists provider by rooming patient, documenting signs/symptoms, obtaining blood pressure, weight and temperature as pertinent. Completes medical history forms. Performs set-up for procedures and assists provider with procedures, which may include performing dressing changes, ear washes, catheterizations, removing sutures and staples, removing castings, breathing treatments, assisting with cast application and DME fittings, EKG’s, urinalyses, strep, flu, pregnancy tests, and some injections as directed by the provider and dependent upon the providers’ specialty. Schedules tests, radiology exams and appointments with specialists as requested by the provider and/or patients. Enters all information pertaining to check-in/check-out as necessary in an appropriate manner in the EMR. Performs prior authorizations as required. Notifies office referral specialist when insurance referral is required. Assists provider with office exams, obtaining height, weight, BMI and other pertinent information as required. In Family Physicians, Women’s Care, Internal Medicine and Pediatrics: May administer immunizations. Updates immunization records and records VFC immunizations in VFC log. Performs phone triage when scheduled, including fielding patient medical questions, test results, medication refills, and call-backs to patients as directed by provider or requested by patient. Faxes/calls/transmits prescription refills as directed by provider. Performs walk-in patient duties as scheduled, which may include: triage, injections, blood pressures, urinalyses, medication sample requests, collecting history and other information from the patients to be relayed to the provider for direction. Functions as a resource to visitors, providers and staff; greets everyone promptly and courteously. Clearly communicates and continuously supports the Mission and Values of JMH. Performs additional duties not addressed here as assigned by the Practice Administrator, practice site provider and/or the JMH Vice President of Physician Practices. Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and Hospital policies and procedures including Blood and Body Substance Precautions. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: High school graduate in addition to specialized courses to include the successful completion of, and graduation from, a recognized medical assistant training course or equivalent experience required. Current CMA (AAMA), RMA, NCMA or CCMA certification required. Requires current BLS o r CPR for Healthcare Providers certification within 6 months of hire. RESOURCE REGISTERED NURSE II (FULL-TIME, NIGHTS)

$5,000.00 Bonus Available* JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Obtains and records initial assessment and establishes priorities according to patient age, symptoms, and psychological needs. Re-assesses patients systematically to identify progress and trends that require intervention. Implements and documents timely interventions appropriate to patient needs. Develops and implements a measurable individualized plan of care for the patient within time frame established by Nursing Standards of Care. Makes comprehensive nursing decisions based on interpretation of facts and evaluation of patient outcome; modifies plan of care based on evaluations. Administers medications and performs nursing tasks (IV starts, Foley catheter insertions, assists with bedside procedures, etc.) upon demonstration of competency. Participates in patient/significant other health education and discharge planning. Utilizes appropriate chain of command for resolution of difficult issues. Participates in orientation of new staff in the Resource RN job role. Maintains neat, organized, and safe environment for patients and staff in collaboration with ancillary services. Functions as resource to visitors, physicians, and staff; greets them promptly and courteously. Keeps patients and families updated on progress of care while in department. Complies with behavioral standards of JMH. Treats all patients/families with respect and practices excellent customer service behaviors. Participates in scope department’s PI plans to improve organizational performance and achieve unit and organizational goals. Answers telephone calls when unit secretary is unavailable or busy and relays messages or transfers call to appropriate staff member. Promotes open communication and continuity of care between floors, shifts, physicians, and departments through verbal reports, charting, patient care plans, and assisting with transfers. Completes order entry in computer per protocols. Maintains confidentiality of patient related issues. Supports the Patient Bill of Rights. Communicates with patients, significant others, and health professionals regarding care to patients and serves as clinical resource person and participates in assessing patient/family status to plan patient’s care. Assures patient and significant others participation in plan of care. Attends and participates in unit related in-services, conferences, and meetings. Responds to cardiac/respiratory emergencies per standards of assigned work area. Responsible for interpreting cardiac rhythms along with patient assessment and intervening with emergency protocols when needed. Performs other related duties as assigned.
