General Summary The Clinic Surgical Technologist provides clinical and surgical support to physicians and nursing staff in both outpatient clinic and operating room settings. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare operating and clinic procedure rooms, ensuring instruments, equipment, supplies, and sterile fields are ready. Assist providers with patient exams, minor procedures, and treatments, including intake, documentation, and basic clinical tasks. Prepare patients for surgery or procedures by positioning, prepping, and draping, while maintaining infection control standards. Assist the surgical team intraoperatively by passing instruments, anticipating needs, maintaining sterile technique, and supporting patient monitoring. Perform clinical and administrative functions such as EMR updates, scheduling, and patient communication. Clean, sterilize, and maintain surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies in compliance with safety and infection control protocols. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and staff to ensure efficient, safe, and patient-centered care across both clinic and OR settings. Education Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program required. Work Experience Experience as a Surgical Technologist or Surgical Nurse desired but not required. Extensive military surgical experience will be considered in lieu of certification. Certification/License Current Surgical Technologist Certification required unless extensive military surgical experience as noted in minimum work experience. American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification required. Mental/Physical Requirements Variety of standing, walking, bending, stooping, twisting, and reaching. Requires occasional lifting/carrying/moving of equipment and supplies up to 50 lbs. Must stand for long periods and remain alert during operations.
