We Are Hiring: Nurse Intern II - ProHealth Care- Mukwonago Emergency Department- .6 FTE- Days/ PMs The Emergency Department is a fast pace, high acuity ED with 35 patient rooms. We are a Stroke Center, Chest Pain Accredited, and a Level 3 Trauma Center. The unit sees 40,000 plus patients annually (birth to end of life). In addition to providing emergency services to patients of all ages the department supports victims of sexual abuse with specially trained sexual assault nurse examiners (SANE). The ED has about 80 staff members – Nurses, Techs, and HUCs. Schedule Details: This .6 FTE commits to 24 hours per week, two 12 hour shifts per week on a day shift/ PM shift rotation. This position is open to nursing students graduating in May- August 2026 who are planning to work in the Mukwonago Emergency Department after graduation. This is not a seasonal or temporary position. What You Will Do: Under the supervision of the registered nurse, the Nurse Intern collects objective data according to the clinical practice and theory obtained from nursing education and in orientation. Utilizes this objective data and works under the supervision of the registered nurse in providing nursing care grounded in the ANA standards of nursing practice. May administer medications under the direct supervision of the RN after completing Pharmacology course (or equivalent content) in school. The Nurse Intern must be a nursing student entering the final semester of a registered nurse program or an individual having completed a nursing program but not yet obtained state licensure to practice as an RN. Obtains clinical knowledge and technical skills while working under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse i.e Clinical Nurse 2,3 or 4. You Will: Be a nursing student entering the final 9 months of a RN program or an individual who has completed an accredited nursing program but has not yet received registered nursing licensure. Be currently enrolled in, or a graduate of, an accredited school of nursing. Current employees must have an overall highly valued rating on their last performance review. The Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) is a 15-bed, outpatient specialty area within the hospital. It may also be called an observation unit. It is a place where a patient’s health can be monitored when they do not meet the requirements for inpatient hospitalization yet require further observation before they go home. The staff here provide care for patients with a diagnosis of Sepsis, Acute/Chronic Respiratory conditions, including but not limited to: Trachs/Vents, Cellulitis, Urinary Tract infections, chronic conditions such as COPD, Heart Failure, Diabetes, patients on Dialysis, and acute drug and alcohol withdrawal. Our staff are also well prepared to care for medical patients with mental health conditions and those patients with Dementia. There are approximately 120 staff on the unit, including: RN’s (tenured and new), CNA’s, Nurse Interns, Health Unit Coordinators, Staff Development Specialist, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Charge Nurse, Assistant Manager, and Manager to provide full support to the staff. The Heart Care Unit is an amazing and dynamic 31 bed intermediate care unit caring for a range of higher acuity patients including heart failure, arrhythmias, chest pain, open heart surgery, cardiac procedures, stroke, and a variety of other medical conditions. All of our nursing staff becomes ACLS (and participate on the Medical Emergency response team), telemetry, and NIHSS certified. Our unit has a rich history of combining excellent patient satisfaction, technical care and patient outcomes.
