The QMC ETU staff are expected to assist with caring for admitted patients boarding in the ED awaiting admission to Med/Surg or Telemetry units. Patient population includes but is not limited to: Cardio-vascular, neurology, respiratory diseases, orthopedic, oncology, gastrointestinal, urological, wound and skin disorders with medical and surgical intervention patients. SCOPE OF SERVICE Cardiac Invasive Services (CIS/Cath lab) is a 4-procedure room unit specifically designed to perform invasive diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac procedures, including structural heart procedures. Procedures are performed on both inpatients and outpatients who have a cardiovascular condition requiring an invasive procedure. Cardiac Invasive Services regular hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. The unit is closed on weekends and holidays observed by The Queen’s Medical Center. As workload dictates, elective procedures can be performed until 7:00 pm Monday through Friday. All other times are reserved for urgent or emergency procedures and are done by the emergency or on-call team. Cardiac catheterization services are provided to patients who range in age from teenagers to geriatrics. Staffing In addition to the physician performing the procedure room is staffed with 1 Registered Nurse, 1 Cardiovascular Technologist and 1 Radiological Special Procedures Technologist, and 1 Circulator (RN, CVT or RT). RESPONSIBILITIES I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for coordinating clinical care of patient. Integrates all health care providers to ensure high quality patient/family outcomes, and establishes a consistent and accountable relationship with patient/family. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, initiation and development of the plan of care, patient/family education, utilization management and discharge planning. II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS Essential functions- Continuous: lifting up to 1/2 lb., seeing, hearing, talking, grasping, fingering.
