Planned Parenthood Los Angeles is seeking an experienced and caring Registered Nurse Float with excellent clinical, communication, and customer service skills to work full-time at our health centers in our San Gabriel Valley region and cross-regionally as needed within LA County while providing care for patients under established medical protocols. Testing and ensuring proper functioning of equipment and presence of necessary supplies in the IV room, operating room, and recovery room. Perform venipuncture/phlebotomy and injections per Clinician or Physician order. Initiate, monitor and discharge IV per Clinician and/or Physician order. Receive patient from OR, including via wheelchair or gurney and transfer to chair appropriately. Upon patient admission to the recovery room, immediately check and record vital signs and general condition of patient. Assess patient prior to discharge from the recovery room and document all findings. Consult provider or Physician when necessary. Assess vaginal bleeding of abortion patients per PPLA Medical Standards & Guidelines. Assess uterine tone of advanced gestation abortion patients per protocol. Provide direction and supervision of other Recovery Room personnel. Administer Microgram or Rhogam to abortion patients as ordered by the Physician and/or Clinician. Perform Rh testing and interpret results. Perform pregnancy testing and other CLIA-waived in-office labs. Administer medications as ordered by the Physician and/or Clinician. Employ appropriate aseptic technique or proper infection control practices when handling contaminated articles or surfaces. Alert Clinician and/or Physician immediately of medical emergencies. Record and sign all assessments, observations, actions, times, and medication dispensing/administration within manual documentation system or in the electronic health record. Follow infection control procedures for equipment and environmental cleaning during clinic session and upon conclusion of session. Ensure crash cart is appropriately stocked at all times. Check and complete log daily, monthly and/or as necessary. Perform medication inventory and ordering monthly or as needed, including narcotic medications. Provide patient education on medication or surgical abortion, medication counseling, contraceptive counseling, and/or pertinent to diagnosis and treatment plan prior to discharge or patients. Collaborate with pre-op providers, Medical Director and/or sedation Program Director to determine patient’s appropriateness for outpatient sedation. Assess the patient’s medical history and determine how it might affect the patient’s response to anesthesia. Provide intravenous conscious sedation and monitor the patient’s response during and after anesthesia. Initiate emergency measures as needed if the patient experiences complications to anesthesia. Expand knowledge about new drugs and anesthesia techniques as they become available or as outlined in the PPLA Medical Standards & Guidelines. Train and orient newly hired licensed staff. Participate in the PPLA Sedation Training program as both the SME and Preceptor. Provide Family Planning or MAB support services to clinicians as assigned. Provide sedation services at assigned surgical sites as needed. Provide sedation services or IV or recovery room coverage in various regions as needed. Perform Quality Management audits, if requested. Adhere to Quality Management policies and procedures. Notify the Quality Director and appropriate Charge Clinician if deficiencies are found. At the Department of Radiation Oncology, our oncologists, therapists and staff work together to build custom treatment plans for specific cancer diagnoses. Job Summary and Responsibilities As our Director Nursing Perioperative Services at St. Mary Medical Center you will be responsible for Surgical service departments including OR, PACU, GI, Short Stay (Pre and Post Op Outpatient Surgery), and SPD. Job Summary Provides quality patient care to critically ill patients, through the nursing process of Assessment, Planning, Intervention, and Evaluation. Serves as a patient advocate at all times. Supervises the nursing care provided to each patient by other caregivers.
