Responsibilities The Perioperative RN is responsible for managing the care of the pediatric and adult patient requiring a surgical procedure. The Perioperative RN is a professional nurse who is directly or indirectly responsible for delivering total nursing care to the perioperative patient during various phases of the perioperative stay. The Perioperative RN participates in the clinical assessment, planning for care, implantation of appropriate nursing techniques and evaluation of nursing interventions. Qualifications MINIMUM EDUCATION Graduate of an accredited Nursing program. MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE Minimum of 1 year previous Perioperative RN experience preferred. REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES Current licensure in Texas as a Registered Nurse. Certified in Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association. ACLS within 6 months of employment. Responsibilities Under the general supervision of the Clinical Director/Manager of the Perioperative Unit, the Clinical Coordinator provides care of patients within the Pre-Op/PACU Department. This position assumes clinical responsibility for the specialty by providing teaching, clinical supervision and evaluation of other personnel assigned to the area. This position is also responsible for duties outlined in the staff registered nurse job description: professional nursing care and related assistance to patients, providing direction to licensed vocational nurses and non-professional nursing personnel in providing direct patient care. Qualifications MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited nursing program and 3 years of recent clinical experience. MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE: Three years clinical experience, preferably on the unit, which the Registered Nurse takes Clinical Coordinator responsibilities. REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Current licensure in Texas as a Registered Nurse. American Heart Association BLS required. ACLS, TNCC or equivalent within 6 months. REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES: Demonstrated proficiency in at least 5 surgical specialties or PACU or Endoscopy preferred. Prior coordinating experience preferred.
