Lactation services are provided by our board certified lactation consultants and supported by our nurses who have extensive breastfeeding training . Mothers at risk for postpartum hypertensive complications are counseled and enrolled in our post-discharge surveillance program, Heart Safe Motherhood. Newborns are evaluated daily by pediatricians or neonatologists, and can be taken to our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) should further evaluation be needed or complications arise. Newborn care procedures include hearing screens, evaluation and management of hyperbilirubinemia, car seat testing, screening for critical congenital heart defects, and metabolic screening. Patient education is central to postpartum care and address topics such as newborn care, maternal care and recognition of early warning signs of possible postpartum complications. Overview Cooper’s Neuroscience Unit is a 16-bed ICU paired with a state-of-the-art Neuro Interventional Suite, that together form an integral part of Cooper Comprehensive Stroke Center. Our nurses provide expert neurological care in both settings to ensure seamless continuity of care for our patients across a wide range of neurological diagnoses. With the most advanced technology and providers, Cooper expands its capabilities to care for neurological patients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The healthcare professionals take tremendous pride in teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration. In addition, we provide outreach to bring stroke and neurological education to improve community health. Experience Required A minimum of one year or more of acute care RN experience in an inpatient setting is strongly preferred. Education Requirements Graduate of NLN-accredited School of Nursing License/Certification Requirements C urrent NJ-RN License (Registered Nurse) Current American Heart Association BLS Certification (Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers) Certain specialties may require advanced certification (i.e. ACLS, NALS, PALS) Special Requirements Full time, 7pm-7am, Weekends/holidays with rotation.
