Surgical Neuro Trauma ICU Nurse

Job Summary and Responsibilities Chandler Regional Medical Center’s Intensive Care Units provide patient care to Level One Trauma, Cardiac Surgery, ECMO, Tandem, Neurology, Neurosurgery and Medical patients. Our ICU is an 80 bed ICU that consists of 36 Medical-Surgical Beds (12 of which are CVICU), 32 Surgical-Trauma-Neuro Beds, and 12 Cardiac Care Beds which all house state of the art equipment. Chandler is ACS Level One Certified Trauma Center, Accredited Stroke Center, and is a Center of Excellence for Coronary Artery Bypass Patients and Mitral Valve replacements. The ratio for our ICU patients is 1:1 or 1:2 and is staffed 24x7 by certified Critical Care Intensivists. The ICU has both a house wide as well as a unit based Shared Governance, that is nurse driven to allow staff the autonomy and buy in into how the unit is run. We utilize self-scheduling. The four ICUs are led by a shared leadership team, which provides many opportunities for growth, as well as the ability to cross train within the various ICUs (Trauma, Neuro, Surgical, Medical, and CVICU). As an ICU Nurse, you have a desire to be challenged and excel in intense, fast-paced environments. You will provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization. Critical thinking is what YOU love to do SICU- T his is the unit you are applying for as an ICU Nurse: As a Surgical Trauma Neuro ICU Nurse, you will provide direct nursing care to neurology, neurosurgical, Level I trauma, and general surgery patients in this 32-bed Intensive Care Unit. CVICU As a CVICU Nurse, you will provide direct nursing care in this 12-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care unit (within the 36-bed MICU) recovering immediate post-surgical open heart patients such as CABGs, valve surgeries, and aortic repairs. The CVICU also provides care to patients on ventricular support devices and ECMO. ( *minimum 1 year of CVICU experience recovering open heart patients in the immediate recovery phase.) MICU As a Medical ICU Nurse, you will provide direct nursing care to patients with sepsis, DKA, post cardiac arrest, respiratory failure and various other medical conditions for this 36-bed unit to medical ICU. CCICU Cardiac Care Intensive Care Unit is a 12-bed medical cardiac intensive care unit in which you would provide direct patient care to lower acuity cardiac patients such as STEMIs, percutaneous coronary interventions, and vascular surgeries such as ELGs and carotid endarterectomy. Job Requirements Minimum: One (1) year RN experience within applicable clinical specialty (ICU) . ADN, Diploma, or foreign equivalent. Current AZ State RN License in good standing. Current BLS healthcare provider card. Current ACLS card must be obtained within 6 months of hire. Preferred: Bachelors of Nursing Degree. We are seeking a Telephonic Nurse Case Manager with a compact and CA RN license to work Monday - Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. Candidates with additional RN licensure from IL, MN, and/or NY will also be given preference. The Telephonic Case Manager provides remote medical case management services to injured individuals, many of whom were industrially injured. A Telephonic Case Manager assists consumers in their recovery so that they may return to the highest level of function as possible. Medical services are coordinated and assessed frequently, vocational options are explored with the injured worker and their employers, and pre-injury employment or alternate employment is secured. The Telephonic Case Manager works with all parties to the claim including: the injured person, the claim’s examiner, employer, attorneys (plaintiff and defense) and medical providers. Performs sponge, needle, and in st rument counts and documentation. Secures emergency equipment and supplies as needed. Provides assistance to teammates, physicians, and patient families and when applicable. Performs other related duties as assigned. Good communication skills that promote safe patient care. Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Licensure/Certification: Registered Nurse with Current State Licensure, Current BLS required. Current ACLS preferred, must obtain within 90 days of hire. Experience: Minimum of (5) year of continuous catheterization lab, ED, or PACU experience required. Previous critical care experience preferred. Working Knowledge: Able to monitor, scrub, and/or circulate on all cath lab procedures including pacemaker, vascular, cardiac, IR and pain management procedures. Able to pre-op and recover patients undergoing all types of procedures. Able to provide direct patient care to the stable and acute patient. Proficient in interpreting EKG and hemodynamic tracings. Technical/Motor Skills: Ability to manipulate various types of electronic and clinical equipment, calibrate and troubleshoot equipment, IV infusions, and computer equipment. Ability to operate specialty equipment in the facility and to perform tasks at a “user” level. Interpersonal Skills: Must be able to communicate fluently in English, both verbally and in writing. Must be able to effectively communicate and interact will all patients, families, staff, and physicians. Must be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues and be able to communicate in a clear and understandable manner appropriate to the age/developmental stage of the patient/visitor.
