Metro Infusion Center (Affiliated with Metro Infectious Disease Consultants) is seeking a licensed Nurse Practitioner for supervision and administration of infusion therapy on a PRN basis to work at the clinic located in Jacksonville, FL. This position is best suited for someone looking for: Flexibility Work/life balance Competitive pay Casual environment Large practice with continued growth Specific Duties: Place and maintain peripheral IV catheters for infusion therapy needs with ongoing assessment of IV site. Prepare medication for IV administration as ordered. Administer IV therapy via electronic pump with troubleshooting of pump alarms and/or administration via gravity/dial-a-flow tubing. Document infusion charting and patient message(s) in EMR system. Addressing patient’s questions or concerns related to adverse effects/side effects, diagnosis, treatment etc. within scope of Mid-level provider. Uses clinical judgment in evaluation activities to meet patient care needs establishing priorities. Monitors the safety and effectiveness of the environment and equipment. Participates in activities to facilitate good interpersonal communications with facility. Agree to cover any clinic as needed per direction of the Manager of Clinical Operations. Supports professional practice by observing the following: Uses knowledge and practices in accordance with 1) Standards of Nursing Practice; 2) JCAHO, state and local laws; 3) MIDC policy. Other duties and tasks as assigned Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Nurse Practitioner experience, preferably in an infusion related setting INFUSION EXPERIENCE Chemo experience is preferred, but not required Proof of current vaccinations, including recommended boosters, commonly required for those working with immunocompromised patients, including measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, hepatitis A & B, influenza, and COVID-19. Responsibilities Essential Functions • Provides timely and appropriate referrals to patients in need of further medical care and services. Responds to consults, schedules procedures and handles discharge planning, as appropriate. Educates and counsels patients/families regarding their health care, including routine health maintenance, as applicable. May provide education and instruction to residents and students. • Performs or assists with procedures of higher complexity in clinic or inpatient unit. Monitors and manages invasive and/or medical devices and placement of devices within scope of practice. May manage care of pre/post-operative and pre/post-procedural patients. • Formulates comprehensive health management plans for high acuity, more complex patients in collaboration with physicians, pharmacists, and other medical professionals to include progress notes, narrative discharge summaries, consults, etc. Facilitates patient participation in making health care decisions. • Enters pertinent clinical information in the patient’s medical record in a timely and accurate manner and in accordance with established compliance billing guidelines. Documents and closes open encounters, MyChart messages, and other EMR communications in accordance with institutional requirements. • Call coverage may be required specific to departmental needs. • Obtains patient histories, performs physical examinations and/or diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, as well as orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests for patients with high level of complexity. Overview Job Duties An Advanced Practice Provider III (APP III) is a direct patient care provider licensed in the State of Florida and/or Georgia and provides medical services to patients as defined by their scope of practice and under the supervision of a physician licensed to practice medicine in the State of Florida/Georgia. Provides patient care with advanced knowledge of subspecialty service. Clinical Area: Subspecialty Outpatient and/or Inpatient Setting, may perform procedures/consults, less than 50% time spent in OR, and/or works in the NICU. Responsibilities Essential Functions • Provides timely and appropriate referrals to patients in need of further medical care and services. Responds to consults, schedules procedures and handles discharge planning, as appropriate. Educates and counsels patients/families regarding their health care, including routine health maintenance, as applicable. May provide education and instruction to residents and students. • Performs or assists with procedures of higher complexity in clinic or inpatient unit. Monitors and manages invasive and/or medical devices and placement of devices within scope of practice. May manage care of pre/post-operative and pre/post-procedural patients. • Formulates comprehensive health management plans for high acuity, more complex patients in collaboration with physicians, pharmacists, and other medical professionals to include progress notes, narrative discharge summaries, consults, etc. Facilitates patient participation in making health care decisions. • Enters pertinent clinical information in the patient’s medical record in a timely and accurate manner and in accordance with established compliance billing guidelines. Documents and closes open encounters, MyChart messages, and other EMR communications in accordance with institutional requirements. • Call coverage may be required specific to departmental needs. • Obtains patient histories, performs physical examinations and/or diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, as well as orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests for patients with high level of complexity. PRIMARY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES : · Assess patients' physical and psychosocial status through interviews, health histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic studies. · Write prescriptions for medication and blood products based on laboratory results, routine diagnostic and follow-up studies, therapeutic measures, and care post-discharge in accordance with written practice protocols. · Based on findings, determine patients' eligibility for entry into clinical trials. · Interpret and evaluate findings of studies/tests. · Relay appropriate information regarding patient care to the collaborating physician. · Administer therapeutic measures / obtain specimens as prescribed. · Dictate follow-up letters to referring physicians with summaries of treatment, response and plan. · Dictate or writes patient history, admissions, progress notes, and discharge notes in a timely manner. · Assist in the management of family dynamics and coping mechanisms during acute and chronic phases of patients’ care. · Conduct or participate in daily multi-disciplinary rounds for assigned patients to ensure patients are receiving appropriate and quality care. · Provide on-call coverage and perform hospital rounds as needed. · Triage patients to determine the urgency of physician evaluation. · Document and report care in an accurate, timely manner using appropriate forms and records. · Demonstrate a willingness to learn and to remain flexible in the changing healthcare environment. · Assist staff in times of crisis or emergency. · Meet with the public outside the institution and efficiently market and promote cancer treatment. · Determine work priorities, assign work and insure proper completion of work assignments. · Comply with all federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to patient privacy, patient’s rights, personnel law, safety, labor, and employment law. Essential Functions Provides strategic leadership and oversight for Advanced Practice Providers, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and Responsible for valuating performance of APPs in collaboration with medical staff leadership. Evaluates and enhances structures and processes for advanced practice including recruitment, onboarding, credentialing, academic partnerships, continuing education, quality improvement, APP clinical advancement model, and research.
