The program currently has 7 Cardiac Surgeons, 1 dedicated Thoracic Surgeon, with 10 APPs. Includes weekend and holiday rotations as well as OR call. Call is 1:5 with split OR and clinical weekend coverage. Competitive salary, CME, and PTO Preferred Skills: 3-5 years cardiac surgery first assist experience. Proficient in EVH. Radial artery harvesting is preferred but not required. Able to assist attending surgeon as either a first or second assistant. Participates in fundamental operating room techniques including aseptic technique, tying knots, hemostasis, tissue handling, primary closure of sternotomies, and leg incisions. Comfortable assisting with daily ICU rounds and managing complex ICU patients pre and post operatively. Will help with inpatient consults. Experience with CVICU procedures preferred (central lines, swans, arterial lines, chest tubes, etc). S trong skills and experience in CABG, valve, and aortic surgery, etc. Prior experience with mechanical circulatory support, ECMO, and cardiac transplant preferred.
