Position Responsibilities: · Adheres to and complies with all regulatory standards globally to profession and specific to unit. · Understands all new physician orders must be implemented within two hours of initiation for routine and within 30 minutes or less for stat. · Understands and is able to prepare patient for invasive and / or non invasive medical procedures ensuring universal protocol compliance. · Understands and is able to administer medication per physicians orders adhering to the hospital approved patient identifiers, following the 5 rights of patient medication administration. · Utilizes chain of command to communicate changes in patient condition and initiate timely interventions to prevent negative patient outcomes. · Maintains current licensure and annual competencies as specific to assignment, keeping written evidence on file at all times. · Ensures and understands the safety aspect of clinical alarms. · Follows Patient Safety goals as established by the department; supports effective responses to adverse and sentinel events; provides an on-going proactive approach to reduce risk; integrates patient safety as a priority into new and existing processes. · Reports incidents to supervisor and Risk Management department within required timeframe in accordance with medical center policy. Follows the completion of incident reporting policy. · Complies with current Hospital security and safety polices. · All other tasks as related to the position's duties. Position Responsibilities · Prepares the OR suite appropriately to receive a new admission. · Evaluates, assesses and documents patient’s surgical status. · Assists anesthesia in maintaining intake and output, checks availability of blood products and checks blood products with anesthesia before administering. Document blood administration and assures accuracy. · Demonstrates ability to handle difficult situations, and appropriate usage of safety measures. · Monitors, evaluates and intervenes appropriately with patients receiving conscious sedation. · Competent in application of safety positioning devices, providing ongoing observation, intervention and documentation as per hospital policy. · Maintains thorough knowledge of operation, care and handling of O.R equipment. Demonstrates ability to perform new procedures, skills and routines in specialty areas. · Performs initial vital signs and admission history to include introduction to patient and family. Assessment of chief compliant and notification of physician within 15 minutes of arrival to procedure area. · Obtains and documents an accurate systems assessment at the beginning of each procedure. · Responds to diagnostic data and initiates appropriate action or intervention. · Assesses patient education needs on admission, and psychosocial needs specific to patients age, growth, and development. · Initiates plan of care within eight hours of admission. Establishes priorities for patient care based on patient needs as evidence by completion of assigned duties within shift. · Performs Pre-Operative and Post-Operative care and instruction for each assigned surgical patient during shift. · Performs dressing changes using aseptic technique. · Collects and labels specimens per policy when ordered by physician. · Performs bedside glucose monitoring according to policy, performs ostomy care to include irrigation, appliance usage and reinforcement of teaching. · Inserts intermittent or indwelling urinary catheter using aseptic technique. · Administers oxygen therapy according to physician order. · Transfer patients in/out of the GI station in an efficient manner, by obtaining a complete and correct set of physician orders. Completes documentation of transfer summary. · All other duties as assigned. Qualifications · Current FL RN License · BLS required · CNOR preferred · Minimum of one year of experience scrubbing and circulating through various service lines. How you make a difference The Travel Director of Nursing provides leadership and oversight of nursing services by planning, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive nursing programs across multiple facilities as needed to fill vacancies. This role ensures nursing practices comply with contractual obligations, accreditation standards, and state regulations while maintaining consistent quality of patient care. The position coordinates staffing, scheduling, orientation, training, and continuing education for nursing personnel in collaboration with the Health Services Administrator. The Travel Director of Nursing actively participates in quality improvement, infection control, pharmacy and therapeutics, and risk management activities, ensuring required reports and follow-up actions are completed timely. This role serves as a liaison between nursing services, medical providers, facility leadership, and external agencies while remaining visible, responsive, and available for on-call nursing emergencies. Key Responsibilities Leads and oversees nursing services operations to ensure compliance with clinical standards, accreditation requirements, and contractual obligations Manages nursing staffing, scheduling, recruitment, retention, and performance evaluations Coordinates patient care delivery, orientation, training, and continuing education for nursing staff Participates in quality improvement, infection control, pharmacy and therapeutics, and risk management activities Serves as a liaison among nursing services, medical providers, facility leadership, and external agencies Additional Details ***This position requires extensive travel.
