Overview We are seeking a Progressive Care Registered Nurse or PCU RN , internally referred to as our Progressive Care Nurse. In the Progressive Care Unit (PCU), the PCU RN or Step-Down RN will provide specialized care to patients with acute and/or chronic medical conditions who require close monitoring, intervention, and support to optimize their outcomes and facilitate their transition to lower levels of care. Triage and quickly assess situations, make decisions, and solve problems efficiently in high-pressure environments. Cooperation with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive patient care. Aid in resuscitative efforts, including CPR and the use of defibrillators. Prepare and maintain equipment for emergency interventions (e.g., intubation, central line placement). Assist in patient stabilization for conditions like trauma, cardiac arrest, and acute illnesses. Prioritize patient care based on acuity level using triage protocols. Qualifications Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have: 1. Current and valid state RN license.2. Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintained.3. Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintained. 4. Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC 30 days upon hire and maintain current. 5. Basic arrhythmia interpretation within 30 days of hire.6. Minimum of one year of experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital setting; E.R. setting preferred.7. Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.8. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Facility-Specific Requirements (the facility may require items listed below): 1. In Paramedic Base Station ED: MICN within 12 months of hire and maintain current. 2. EDAP-certified facilities: Completion of emergency pediatric courses 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire.3.
