Responsibilities Job Summary This position requires a thorough understanding of the facility’s treatment program and philosophy, admission process and criteria, support and administrative services, medical knowledge of various aspects of substance abuse and dual diagnosis patient care. The Admissions Nurse is a member of the treatment team providing professional level of nursing care to patients under minimum supervision and consultation. This is a complex position which directs and guides activities on the unit and assignments of ancillary personnel assigned to unit and shift. Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Identify client care requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual clients and in partnership with other persons in a position to understand care requirements. Promote client's independence by establishing client care goals, teaching client to understand condition, medications and self-care requirements, and answering questions. Assure quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against client care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following philosophies and standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nurse act, and other governing agency regulations. Maintain safe and clean working environment in compliance with procedures, rules, and regulations; calling for assistance from health care support personnel as needed. Protect clients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations. Document patient care services by charting in client and department records. Maintain interdepartmental continuity of care by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. Maintain client confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential. Maintain nursing supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing orders for supplies. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications. Maintain a cooperative relationship among health care team by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem solving methods. Follow incident reporting policy and procedure, reporting any potential safety issues in a timely fashion. Demonstrate skills of delegation, organization and coordination of assigned services, delegating responsibilities to designated staff as appropriate. Function as a role model for nursing staff. Effectively prioritize communication issues pertaining to all departments and provide collaborative intervention as needed. Other duties as assigned within scope of the position. Qualifications Education/Experience: Associate’s degree in Nursing required, Bachelor’s degree preferred. Active Nursing License in the State the treatment center is located. Knowledge of mental health, addiction, and addiction treatment preferred.
