Summary The Registered Nurse (RN) 1 is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care for a group of population specific patients for the department /unit, from simple to complex, with multi-system issues in a safe and therapeutic environment. The RN uses knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, assesses data reflective of the patient's status and interprets information needed to identify each patients' requirements relative to his/her age specific needs. The RN engages in caring relationships with patient's, families, and significant others, works collaboratively with other health care workers, and uses sound judgments while performing nursing and medical interventions. The RN adheres to specialty standards and organizational standards, policies, procedures, guidelines and protocols. Reports to the Director and/or Nurse Manager. May participate in supervision of Licensed Nursing Assistants and unlicensed personnel. Education Graduated from an accredited School of Nursing, BSN preferred. Certification, Registration & Licensure Licensure required: Current New Hampshire State Registered Nurse license. Certification required: Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification, or equivalent course credentialed by American Heart Association. Overview Blood Donor Program 36 hours per week Apheresis (A-fer-E-sis) is a well-established specialty involving several interdisciplinary teams including transfusion medicine, hematology/oncology, laboratory medicine, immunology, transplant medicine, neurology, and cardiology. Apheresis nurses manage various procedures including therapeutic plasma exchanges, red blood cell exchanges, LDL apheresis, extracorporeal photopheresis, peripheral blood stem cell collections, and CAR-T cell collections. Procedures are performed at a single academic hospital under the supervision of an on-site Transfusion Medicine physician. The apheresis program is predominantly an outpatient service with inpatient procedures performed when medically indicated. In addition to running the apheresis instruments, nursing tasks include patient education, vascular access evaluation and care, medicationadministration, reaction management, and coordination of care. Apheresis nurses undergo a rigorous on-site training process that includes a thorough education on principles of apheresis medicine, preparation and maintenance of apheresis machines, and reaction protocols. As an additional bonus, the nurses oversee the care of our healthy blood donors in the Blood Donor Program. Overview Clinical Research Nurse II performs a full range of clinical and non-clinical research duties, and has a working knowledge of the clinical research process and the regulations that govern it. As licensed professionals with clinical research experience, they perform patient related care independently, including medical assessments, symptom management, and referrals, within the scope of their licensure. With the oversight of the PI or their designee, they perform progressively more complex and comprehensive clinical research duties at an ever-increasing level of independence, working closely with the Principal Investigator (PI). They work under supervision, but with more autonomy than an entry level position. Responsibilities Research Operations Provide patient care to inpatients and outpatients receiving investigational therapy, occasionally requiring tasks outside of standard operating hours. Overview Interventional Radiology (IR) is a dynamic procedural department that performs a wide range of image-guided interventions using fluoroscopy, ultrasound, computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to precisely target therapy. Many IR procedures offer minimally invasive alternatives to traditional surgery. The Interventional Radiology team collaborates closely with multiple specialties across the organization, including nephrology, urology, gastroenterology, cardiology, oncology, vascular surgery, and gynecology. Registered Nurses work side by side with a multidisciplinary team to support all aspects of patient care throughout the procedural continuum. The department manages a high volume of procedures, including—but not limited to—central venous access, image-guided drain placements, dialysis access maintenance, inferior vena cava (IVC) filter placement, nephrostomy tube placement, and gastrostomy tube placement. This position is a Monday–Friday schedule with 10-hour shifts and shared on-call responsibilities. Candidates should have a minimum of two years of inpatient medical-surgical or other acute care experience. Training for ACLS and Moderate Sedation will be provided. Develops or utilizes appropriate assessment tools to promote a consistent, holistic plan of care. Facilitates timely scheduling of appointments, diagnostic testing, and procedures to expedite the plan of care and to promote continuity of care. Provides education to patient, families, and caregivers to the cancer healthcare system, multidisciplinary team member roles and available resources. Participates in the tracing of metrics and patient outcomes, in collaboration with administration, to document and evaluate outcomes of the navigation program and report findings to the cancer committee. Assists in the identification of candidates for molecular and/or genetic testing and counseling and facilitates appropriate referrals. Acts as a liaison between the patients, families and caregivers and the providers to optimize patient outcomes. Performs other duties as required or assigned. Qualifications Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program required. Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's preferred. Three years of oncology experience in an acute or ambulatory care setting preferred.
