Position Summary: The Team Leader provides leadership and non-medical operations oversight of the Medical Assistants and Front Desk Receptionists within the practice. Assists the Manager of Clinic Operations with ensuring compliance with policy and standards set forth by executive officers as well as by state and federal regulatory agencies. The Team Leader is responsible for the management and monitoring the performance of the staff (Medical Assistants and Patient Access Representatives). About this unit 8NE & NW, is a 68-bed unit cardiac step-down unit that provides an intermediate level of care to patients that typically have a cardiac related diagnosis such as coronary artery disease (CAD), congestive heart failure (CHF), myocardial infarction (MI) and heart arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation (A-fib) and ventricular tachycardia (V-Tach). About the unit 4 South is a 35 bed Progressive Care Unit. Our unit is a fast-paced, encouraging environment. We provide care for a wide range of patient needs, such as stroke, cardiac, and thoracic patients, to name a few. We assess patient’s NIHSS scale and provide treatment and education per protocol and treat Cardiac issues that may arise during their stay with medications and procedures. We do vital signs every four hours and hourly rounding on every patient. We work closely with Physical and Occupational therapy for our patient’s recovery and educate both the patient and their family members on what to expect after discharge. Identifies alterations in mood or behavior, recognizing potential for self-harm or high-risk behaviors. Communicates these issues to the Charge Nurse/designee. Assists in applying protective devices under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse. Utilizes the Individualized Treatment Plan and any specific treatment plan in determining interventions with patients; keeps treatment plan updates; reviews treatment plan with patient. Sets limits in a therapeutic and consistent manner on a patient’s behavior with the assistance of Registered Nurse within program guidelines and age-specific principles. Assists patient with activities of daily living, encouraging independent behavior with appropriate interventions on a daily basis and follows program guidelines regarding nutritional habits. Identifies verbal and non-verbal cues for potential aggressive behavior and applies de-escalation techniques to situation. Intervenes to decrease the panic of disturbed patients under the direction of the Registered Nurse. Uses the necessary intervention to de-escalate disturbed patients. Actively participates in Non-Violent Crisis Interventions at all times, as necessary. Serves as a role model for other nursing staff or patients by appearance, manner, attitude and tone. About this unit 6NE is a Progressive Care unit where RN’s have the opportunity to be trained to work with more critically ill patients than on a general Med Surg unit. All RN’s on 6 NE receive Critical Care training. APP’s are on the unit for both day and night shifts and participate in rounds along with the RN’s and physicians.
