The Cardiac Intervention Unit (CIU) will facilitate care to the following patient populations: patients admitted for cardiac catheterization, elective coronary interventional procedures including PTCA, stent, atherectomy, electrophysiology testing and/or ablation, elective electrical cardioversion, permanent cardiac pacemaker or AICD implantation. CIU's nurse to patient ratio is 1:5. Anticipated length of stay for these patients is less than 48 hours. The unit provides expert quality care to patients utilizing an interdisciplinary collaborative approach in an effort to return the patient to their highest level of wellness.
