CORE JOB SUMMARY The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse – Per Diem delivers medical care to a wide variety of patients. The incumbent examines and treats patients independently and in autonomous collaboration with other health care professionals. Provide patient education and participate in patient/family interventions. Follow post-operative patients and monitor for any postoperative complications and patients have the resources necessary for recovery. Ensures the appropriate applications of critical pathways. Consult with patients and prospective patients/families by phone. Evaluate/triage need for care and advise regarding appropriate interventions including need for emergency treatment. Consult with other professionals regarding decision-making for patient care as needed. Participate in decision-making with patients by providing information regarding pathophysiology and benefits/risks of treatment options. Coordinate research / clinical trials, including Human Subjects Research Committee communication, consent forms, and patient recruitment.
