Monitor Clients physical and emotional well-bing. Vital Signs checked every 4 hours (the first 24 hours , vitals should be checked every 2 hours or per MD order. Monitor client's vital signs for withdrawal signs/symptoms. Write notes and reports, as protocol and procedures indicate. Document and report on client's status to team members. Complete transcriptions of doctor's orders pertaining to modified detox protocol. Assist clients with all medications via administration monitoring and /or administer medications as directed by the appropriate or assigned health care professional (i.e. Medical Director , Doctor, RN, etc.) Assist clients with personal hygiene. Attend job-related meetings, in-service trainings, staff development training, participates in team problem solving methods, building rapport, responds to request, and maintains a cooperative relation among the health care team by communicating information. Maintains nursing supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory levels, anticipating needing supplies, and placing orders for supplies. Other duties, as assigned. Qualifications Education/Experience: Current LVN license in State of operations required or LPT license in State of operations. CPR and First Aid Certified. Two years of experience as an LVN or in a health-related field preferred. Knowledge of basic principles, practices and techniques of drug and alcohol intervention. Knowledge of medications effects, indications, and contraindications. Ability to read and interpret written information; write clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar. Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions; demonstrates group presentation skills; and participates in meetings. Job Summary and Qualifications Under general supervision the Staff RN provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures of Medical Center of Lewisville . In collaboration with patient , patient’s family and other members of the health care team, the clinical RN is responsible for assessing the nursing care needs of patients, planning interventions and evaluating outcomes of care . The RN provides direct care and/or supervises nursing care of LVN’s and non-licensed nursing staff . The RN is responsible for providing care consistent with the Nursing Department’s policies, procedures and standards of practice. RN’s are responsible for providing care, which is appropriate to the age specific (adolescent, adult and geriatric patients ), developmental and safety needs of the assigned patient population . In addition to the RN duties and responsibilities, the RN scope includes charge duties . The clinical supervisor or charge nurse makes patient assignments and supervises and directs the staff and unit activities for the assigned shift. Participates in hospital or departmental performance improvement activities. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care needs of the patient. Document nursing care in compliance with policies procedures and practices established by the Nursing Department and the hospital. Initiates prescribed treatment plan. Initiate and carry out nursing plan of care. Administers medications, blood and blood products. Provides for activities of daily living for patients. Conducts accurate , timely assessment of patients utilizing FIMs scoring. Transport patients. Maintenance of peripheral and central lines, pic lines, medi ports. Management of post operative pain. Management of neuraxial analgesia. Management of traction and orthopedic conditions. Management of general surgery patients. Management of medical patients. Assessment and treatment of post-op complications. Provision of pre-operative and post operative nursing care. Provision of pre-operative and post operative patient teaching and education related to specific surgical procedures or adaptations in health status resulting from treatment. Participation in discharge planning. Provision of emotional support for patients and families based on the assessments of their coping skills. Performance of nursing care in compliance with safety policies and procedures established by the hospital and Nursing Department. Perform special assignments as needed/ requested . Serves as a clinical resource to department staff, students, volunteers and other departments, and contributes to the teamwork essential to ensuring quality patient care Takes appropriate measures to ensure safety of patients. Performs nursing care consistent with the needs of adolescent, adult and geriatric patients requiring treatment and care for pre and post surgical conditions. Attend staff meetings and inservices . What qualifications you will need: Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date ACLS (AHA) preferred Texas RN License or RN Compact State License (RN) Registered Nurse BSN preferred. If hired into RN required position after September 2014 and no BSN, then BSN required within three years of facility date. ADN required Pass the licensed personnel FIM exam using the UDSMR Online Credentialing System within 9 0 days of hire and again as necessary to maintain the facilities UDS-PRO credential. CRRN Preferred Staff RN must have a minimum of 1 year recent nursing experience. Responsibilities Perform Department of Transportation (DOT) and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing Prepare patients for physical examinations, including taking vital signs and any required or requested ancillary testing including but not limited to vaccines and injections, phlebotomy, PFTs, audiogram testing and respirator fit testing Perform rapid screening tests (influenza, strep, mono, glucose, etc.) Assist providers during examination and treatment Responsible for performing routine medical procedures as ordered by treating clinician as well as triaging emergent patients as needed Prepare and assist clinician with procedure set up and injury care Apply bandages, dressings and splints as ordered by the treating clinician Dispense medications and DME as ordered by the treating clinician in accordance with state regulations Complete quality assurance activities on equipment and medical devices as well as testing processes used in the center Maintain supplies, clean rooms and equipment, and stock exam rooms Maintain and operate all medical devices and equipment, including calibration and record keeping in accordance with current policy and procedures Notify supervisor immediately if equipment is not functioning properly, supplies are needed, or facility is not operating as expected In partnership with center leadership, assist with patient flow and volume Keep patients informed of expected wait times during all aspects of the center visit Responsible for clerical tasks in both the front and back office associated with patient care and proper record keeping Ensure accuracy in documentation Perform front office duties: greet patients, obtain authorization, check in/out, communicate wait times, answer multi-line telephone system, and distribute employer results/paperwork as needed Follow HIPAA guidelines and safety rules Attend center staff meetings or huddles as required Assist in maintaining a neat, clean, and orderly appearance throughout the facility Complete any applicable training including but not limited to clinical competency training that occurs monthly This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
