Essential Functions: Under direction of the DNO, responsible for day-to-day nursing operations of patient care activities, including supervision of staff, tasks, and workflow. Manages staffing needs by evaluating census, acuity, skill level, and staff availability. Assists with department hiring, employee training and development, counseling and disciplinary actions, performance assessment, and retention of assigned staff. Provides education, direction, and mentorship of the nursing team’s function, purpose, and goals. Ensures accreditation standards and other standards of care set forth by the state and accrediting agencies of TJC and CMS are met. Communicates, collaborates, and coordinates with interdisciplinary team members to provide quality patient care and to ensure positive patient outcomes.
