Overview We are seeking a Step-Down Unit RN , sometimes referred to as our Step-Down RN or Step-Down Cardiac Nurse. A Step-Down RN is a registered nurse who specializes in providing care for patients who are recovering from cardiac procedures, surgeries, or events like heart attacks. The Step-Down RN offer an intermediate level of care between the ICU and the general medical-surgical floor. Step-Down Nurses are responsible for close monitoring, medication administration, patient education, and care coordination. Provides follow-up for patients with wound, ostomy, or continence-related issues through inpatient/outpatient visits and/or phone consultations. Collaborates with ancillary staff and initiates additional referrals for medical/surgical assistance as needed: Promotes safe, efficient, family-centered care. Provides appropriate education to patient, caregiver, and staff regarding wound, ostomy, or continence-related issues: Meets the educational needs of the patient and family, utilizing appropriate principles of teaching/learning. Participates in performance improvement activities and attends educational programs, unit meetings or other assigned meetings as indicated.
