Overview Act as a facilitator in assisting new parents, newborns, infants, and families in matters regarding decision-making, self-care and infant care relative to feeding. This is a Part Time Benefited position at 30hrs/week. Shifts are 10hrs and rotating. The rotation includes Weekdays & rotating Saturday coverage. Responsibilities Performs assessments on inpatients and outpatients who are referred for individual chest/breastfeeding consultations, teaching, and/or feeding support session(s). Plans, implements and evaluates individual chest/breastfeeding education based on patient assessment and medical plan of care. Teaches patient and significant others about chest/breastfeeding self-management. Documents all aspects of chest/breastfeeding education. Facilitate referral to other health-care professional, community service and support groups as needed. Triage patients, plan/recommend interventions and/or determine immediate need for evaluation. Initiate infant feeding education prenatally for families making feeding choices through accurate information provided in a variety of settings. Work in collaboration with multi-disciplinary team members in teaching parents and their families in the inpatient hospital and outpatient clinic setting and identify lactation needs, formulating and implementing plans using a problem-solving process for special needs parents and infants regarding infant nutrition. Implement standards of care, policies and procedures for infant nutrition. Collaborate on written literature and/or brochures about infant and parent nutrition to be distributed to families and the community. Develop in-services and one-on-one teaching for multi-disciplinary team members relevant to infant nutrition. Serve as a resource person for nurses, physicians and other health care providers within the hospital/clinic and the community. Support in maintaining statistics on the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center chest/breastfeeding population, evaluating, and updating the infant nutrition support services as indicated. Maintain communication based on referral, when indicated for parents/the feeding dyad, with other health care providers. Overview O.R. Same Day Surgery Full-time, 10 hour shifts, Monday – Friday ! 6:00am - 8:30pm Our Same Day Program is a very busy 34-bed unit where patients are efficiently prepared for their surgery or procedures. A typical day we care for 50-70 patients. We also provide post anesthesia recovery care for those patients being discharged home the “same day” as their procedure. On the main unit we serve patients from 15 years through adulthood and in our separate pedi periop program we care for patients 14 and under. Within our department is a regional block program where patients receive sedation by our moderate sedation trained nurses while being administered a preoperative block before going into the OR for most commonly a joint replacement. Preadmission Services that utilize our program include but are not limited to orthopedics, gynecology, plastics, ENT, vascular, urology, radiology, cardiology and thoracic surgery. We are looking for experienced nurses that are team players and want to work in a busy 34 bed Same Day Surgery Program (SDP). Shifts are 10 hours between the hours of 6:00 am and 8:30 pm. Nurses must have current acute care hospital experience. Critical Care experience and IV skills are a plus. Same Day Program consists of an energetic and enthusiastic group of professionals that are engaged in sharing their knowledge of perioperative services! Overview O.R. Same Day Surgery Full-time, 10 hour shifts, Monday – Friday ! 6:00am - 8:30pm Our Same Day Program is a very busy 34-bed unit where patients are efficiently prepared for their surgery or procedures. A typical day we care for 50-70 patients. We also provide post anesthesia recovery care for those patients being discharged home the “same day” as their procedure. On the main unit we serve patients from 15 years through adulthood and in our separate pedi periop program we care for patients 14 and under. Within our department is a regional block program where patients receive sedation by our moderate sedation trained nurses while being administered a preoperative block before going into the OR for most commonly a joint replacement. Preadmission Services that utilize our program include but are not limited to orthopedics, gynecology, plastics, ENT, vascular, urology, radiology, cardiology and thoracic surgery. We are looking for experienced nurses that are team players and want to work in a busy 34 bed Same Day Surgery Program (SDP). Shifts are 10 hours between the hours of 6:00 am and 8:30 pm. Nurses must have current acute care hospital experience. Critical Care experience and IV skills are a plus. Overview The ICN is a 30-bed Intensive Care Nursery caring for acutely ill and premature infants from all over the state of NH and parts of the state of VT. The care we provide is patient and family centered, with the family encouraged to be present and participate in their baby’s care from the beginning. They are considered part of the care team. Nurses provide care to infants who are critically ill as well as convalescing with nurse to patient ratios that range from 1:1 to 1:3. Primary nursing is encouraged and contributes to family satisfaction. There are many opportunities for professional growth from participation in our unit based practice council and one of our many quality improvement projects. In addition, there is a two person high risk neonatal transport team which includes an ICN RN who has been trained to provide this level of care along with a respiratory care practitioner. This is a PT 2x12hr shift position ROTATING 7a-7p, 7p-7a across all weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Overview Our Birthing Pavilion is a 21-room, 24-bed Labor, Delivery, Recovery and Postpartum (LDRP) unit. We average approximately 1300 deliveries each year. Approximately fifty-five percent of our patients are high-risk and are part of our Maternal Fetal Medicine service. We receive transports from all of New Hampshire, Southern Vermont, and occasionally Maine. We have a robust midwifery service along with a generalist physician service. We provide antepartum care, intrapartum care, postpartum care, normal newborn care, and focus care newborn care. We have a two-bed triage room in which we triage all of our own patients. Our unit includes two operating rooms (ORs) in which everyone is trained in perioperative care, i.e. circulating and scribing in the OR, and Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) services. We collaborate with many units in the organization including the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Cardiovascular Critical Care (CVCC), and the Main Operating Room to provide highly specialized care to our pregnant and postpartum patients. The Intensive Care Nursery (ICN or NICU) is next door to us and we have a very close relationship with their team. This position is FT, 3x12hr rotating shifts (7a-7p and 7p-7a) across all 7 days and holidays.
