Responsibilities Assess patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs. Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and patient, family or caregiver in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care. Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care. Promotes respect, equity and empathy in interactions with diverse and vulnerable populations through care delivery (e.g. support for emotional, spiritual, and cultural preferences of patient, family and/or caregivers). Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital operates four rural health clinics providing quality health care to surrounding communities. In addition, the hospital operates a comprehensive Therapy and Rehabilitation department and an award-winning Wound Care Center with two hyperbaric chambers. Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital's Emergency Department experienced continued growth in 2010 seeing more than 20,000 patients. The Medical/Surgical Department is a 34-bed general medical, surgical and telemetry unit that provides comprehensive biopsychosocial nursing to patients requiring general medical, pre- and post-operative care, urology, cardiac and pediatric care. Department nurses provide exceptional care to infants, children, adolescents, adults and seniors. Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose The House Supervisor is delegated the authority and responsibility for administrative supervision of patient care and other hospital departments, serving as a representative of Administration in the absence of the Administrator during off shifts. Acts as a liaison with departments and/or consults with Administrator on call to handle unusual circumstances, appropriate resources, and investigate and resolve clinical problems/complaints. Responsibilities Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership. Supervises the delivery of safe and appropriate patient care across the organization. Effectively responds to special circumstances and acts as the on site leader. Assists with patient care operations and integration of services between departments. Assists in the clinical development of nursing staff, including observing and coaching staff in performance of clinical duties and interpersonal interactions and monitoring staff and unit compliance in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
