This is a PRN position . The role of the Medical Assistant is to guide patients through their visits and carry out provider orders according to established procedures. Responsibilities Greet each patient, verify identity at each encounter, explain procedures to be performed, and address patient questions and concerns. Take temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal. Prepare equipment and aid provider during treatment and examination of the patient. Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner. Observe patient, record significant conditions and reactions, and notify supervisor or provider of patient’s condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents. Conduct provider referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis. Document nursing history and physical assessment of patients. Prepare rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures. Assists with patient phone calls, prescription refills, referrals, and prior authorizations. Qualifications JOB QUALIFICATIONS Education: High school graduate or equivalent. Licensure: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. Graduated from a Medical Assistant program, accredited by the Commission on accreditation of Allied Health Education Program preferred. Test and pass the National Certification exam (AAMA, NHA, NCCT, AMT, NAHP) to be certified as Medical Assistant required. Experience: 1-2 years’ experience in a clinical setting is preferred. Skills: Good oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with patients, physicians, advanced practitioners and staff members. Ability to interpret and follow oral and written instructions, policies, guidelines and standards. Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively. Intermediate Proficiency level with Microsoft Office: Word and Excel.
