Bargaining Unit PEF Job Summary The Department of Perioperative Services at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse Supervisor 1, Operating Room. The Registered Nurse Supervisor 1 (T&RC) is supervisory level, and provides administrative and clinical supervision to lower-level registered nurses and direct care staff; oversees and coordinates nursing services for an assigned unit; and may be involved in teaching and orientation functions. Illustrative Duties Plans, directs, and supervises nursing services on an assigned unit, including direct supervision of Registered Nurse 1 (T&RC) and other staff. Directs the development and implementation of nursing care plans on a unit. Provides individual care, and functions as an educator and nursing services expert. Assesses work methods of nursing staff and provides feedback to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of care delivered. Coordinates medical and nursing care needs with other health care providers and departments. Ensures proper functioning of equipment and unit compliance with safety and environmental standards. Monitors nursing care quality standards, and implements corrective actions as needed. Attends and participates in medical committees to represent nursing staff needs and the individual population, and participates in writing of care standards. Identifies staff training needs and collaborates with unit educators to develop and implement educational programs. Develops and implements orientation plans for new employees and participates in staffing decisions. Required Qualifications Possession of a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State; and 3-years of post-licensure acute care clinical nursing experience. A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing can substitute for 1-year of post-licensure clinical nursing experience; and a Master’s Degree in Nursing can substitute for 2-years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience. Preferred Qualifications Work Schedule: Variable Days; 7:30am to 3:30pm (Full-Time) Salary Grade/Rank SG-22 Salary Range As per civil service guidelines $117,599 to $144,230 based on years of experience and education (includes Location Pay & Geographic Differential) plus shift and/or inconvenience pay of $575 to $5,375, if applicable.
