How you make a difference The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (Psych NP) follows established policies and procedures and state guidelines, ensuring compliance with supervision requirements through proper documentation. They provide psychiatric consultation, diagnostic, treatment, and medication management services to patients, including crisis intervention services. Overall, the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner plays a vital role in providing quality mental health care to patients. Key Responsibilities Conducts comprehensive assessments, implements and evaluates individualized plans of care, and monitors medication and treatment protocols in accordance with established policies and procedures and state guidelines. Documents all relevant patient care issues, including observations and interventions, in progress notes and treatment plans that are problem-oriented, legible, and compliant with documentation requirements. Provides individualized care and treatment that is culturally sensitive and age-appropriate, and participates in the psychiatric on-call schedule if required. Adheres to established formulary procedures for therapeutic regimens, and supports standards of psychiatric care through adherence to policies and procedures for admission and transfer, utilization review, and referrals. Assumes responsibility and accountability for individual judgments and actions, and provides input into mandatory committees as requested by superiors. Qualifications & Requirements Education Graduation from an accredited nurse practitioner program. Experience Two (2) years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner. Psychiatric experience preferred and/or experience in a residential healthcare institution. Licenses/Certifications Certification as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in the state of practice highly desired. Must maintain CPR certification, and any other certifications (such as First Aid) required by contract. How you make a difference The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant works under the direct supervision of the Health Services Administrator, Program Manager, or higher medical professional. They assist the Physician in all medical care and treatment of the inmate population, including behavioral health disorders. The role includes coordinating the patient plan of care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in compliance with all agency, local, state, and federal laws and regulations. Key Responsibilities • Respond to and deliver care according to protocols and procedures.• Evaluate and treat patients for acute care and emergency medicine complaints based on standardized procedures and protocols.• Consult with a physician for conditions outside protocol parameters and identify patients who require transfer to an Emergency Department.• Assess patients' medical, traumatic, and psychiatric issues and document all findings using the S.O.A.P method and EMR.• Participate in Quality Management and Peer Review activities, attend administrative meetings, and provide clinical support for other services as needed. Responsibilities The position of Chief Nurse Anesthetist is responsible and accountable to the overall operations and management of the CRNA staff, including hiring, evaluating, and mentoring. Collaborates with the Chair of the Anesthesiology Department in developing, interpreting, and applying department policies, budgets, and long-range plans. Analyzes and evaluates activities to assure established quality patient services and plans appropriate utilization of staff time and capabilities. Coordinates these activities with other hospital departments. The Chief Nurse Anesthetist will demonstrate professional and clinical leadership, expertise, and judgment. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Nurse Anesthesia Education Program with a Master’s Degree in a related field; or graduation from a program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Education programs prior to January 1998 is required. Certified as an APN in the State of NJ is required. A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a nurse anesthetist is required. Candidate must have sufficient sensory capacity to observe the patient and patient monitors. Candidate must be able to communicate effectively in both academic and health care settings. Responsibilities The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) is a skilled health provider who through a written collaborative practice agreement with a physician is credentialed through the Medical Staff Office. As a member of the Medical Staff the APN demonstrates standards of professional practice that includes ethical decision making, job activities related to quality assessment/improvement, self-evaluation, leadership and research. The APN is self-directed and purposeful in seeking necessary knowledge and skills to develop and maintain competency.The APN in the Hematology/Oncology Practice utilizes critical judgment in the performance of comprehensive health assessments, differential diagnosis and the prescribing of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments in the direct management of patients diagnosed with a variety of hematologic or oncologic diseases. The APN practice will promote wellness through conducting research, providing education and works autonomously as well as in interdisciplinary teams as resources and consultants. Qualifications A current Registered/Professional Nurse license and registration in the State of New Jersey is required. Completion of an educational program which is designed and conducted to prepare graduates to practice as an NP/APN with a master’s degree in nursing and eligible for certification by a national certifying body. Responsibilities Purpose of Your Position To ensure in collaboration with the Nurse Manager for each unit that safe, appropriate and goal-directed care is provided in a consistent manner, to provide support and direction to nursing staff on the evening and night tours of duty and to ensure the implementation of the Nursing Department policies and procedures on the evening and night tours of duty. Position Functions and Responsibilities Understands and promotes Elizabeth Seton Children’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure application with organizational policies and procedures. Perform clinical evaluations of residents for acute illness or change in status. Provide medical services for residents who have chronic issues as needed Order medications and ensure proper administration. Provide emergency services for residents and staff as needed. Assist Employee Health office with immunizations, PPD placement and reading, and staff assessments as needed. Address abnormal laboratory results and document assessment and plans. Order and arrange transfer of residents to acute care facilities as indicated, including provision of written consultation and telephone call to receiving ED. Write thorough notes including history, physical exam, assessment, and plan for resident encounters. Use electronic medical record for notes and orders. Provide end-of-shift sign out to nursing and medical staff. Make rounds to ensure that all residents are seen at least one time per shift. In partnership with nurse supervisor, take active role in education, support, and guidance of staff. Meet with parents, physicians, other staff, and/or administration as needed. Maintain knowledge base through continuing professional education programs and provide documentation to medical staff office. Other related duties as may become necessary or as directed by supervisor, department director, and/or administration. Qualifications Education Requirements: Graduate of an accredited RN program B.S.
