Serves as a role model for clients and peers. · Shares responsibility for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care plans and nursing care. · Effectively communicates with the medical staff, receives verbal/written orders, and takes care to minimize abbreviation or other errors. Participates in team conferences, sharing knowledge, information, and ideas among team members. · Prepares, administers, controls and accurately records medications in accordance with the policy regarding the administration of medications by a licensed practical nurse, with thorough documentation regarding administration effect and/or adverse effects. · Observes, documents, and communicates with/reports to the R.N. in charge any clinical, physical, unit or personnel, or other issues which could alter client care. Ensure nursing service is in compliance with federal, state and local regulations. 7. Participate in the planning and implementation of the nursing service budget. 8. Assist in directing and supervising scheduling of employees within established guidelines for allocation of nursing service personnel on duty. 9. Assist in directing, organizing and scheduling required resident assessments and related documentation for Medicare, Medicaid, managed care and Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) reimbursement. 10. Assist with interviews, hiring nursing service employees, conduct counseling interviews and initiate disciplinary action as necessary. 11. Assist with written employee performance evaluations and participate in the recommendations for salary increases, promotions and terminations. 12. Ensure proper coordination resident admissions, transfers and discharge with community agencies and other facilities. 13. Attend and participate in all clinical meetings as required throughout the assigned facility(s). 14. Remain proficient in all computer software implemented throughout the clinical department. 15. Consistently work cooperatively with administration, all facility staff, ancillary personnel and consultants. 16. Demonstrate consistent management of nursing service problems, emergency situations, and initiate “life-saving” measures in the absence of a physician. 17. Observe infection control procedures. 18. Ensure the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process is followed in accordance to State & Federal Guidelines. 19. Follow Resident Rights policies at all times. 20. Adhere to all facility policies & procedures and ensure they are adhered to by all responsible parties and carry out disciplinary action for non-compliance as appropriate. 21. Position Qualifications Education and Experience: Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse program.
