Coordinates care planning with other caregivers and with other areas, adheres to universal precautions, and is compliant with infection control policies. Consults with on call Psychiatrist and ED Physician regarding disposition of patients. Works independently with minimal supervision. ESSENTIAL DUTIES 1. Completes initial screenings of patients presenting in the ED for Behavioral Health services 2. Reviews clinical information and presents it to the ED Physician, as well as the on-call Psychiatrist to determine appropriate disposition of patients 3. Documents assessment and discharge plans/discharge disposition of patient in the medical record according to department standards. 4. Verifies Insurance coverage, when applicable 5. Facilitates referrals to other Healthcare facilities when appropriate 6. Serves as a resource for physicians, patients, and families 7. Provides compassionate, quality patient care in accordance with physician orders in a warm and friendly manner. 8. Takes and records measurements or readings. 9. Assesses condition and provides treatment for care of patient. 10. Administers prescribed medications. 11. Provides leadership while working collaboratively with other care givers in the department. 12. Demonstrates knowledge, skills and ability related to patient care and normal procedures in the Psych Central Management Department within own scope of practice as demonstrated in completion of annual competencies. 13. Assists with orientation process of new staff as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS 1. BSN and two years of experience in psychiatric/behavioral health nursing or ADN with 4 years of experience in psychiatric/behavioral health nursing 2. Current licensure as a registered nurse by the State of Ohio. 3. CPR certification within 30 days of employment 4. Demonstrates competence in age-specific patient care as documented by the attached checklist 5. Aggression Management System within six months of employment 6. Ability to read, write and explain or describe moderately complex information to other hospital staff. 7. Attention to detail. 8. Ability to communicate well in an oral and written manner. Must be able to observe, assess, guide, and evaluate others. 9. Ability to read, calculate and prepare medication, and observe and analyze any resulting reactions and to apply clinical knowledge. 10. Completes documentation of daily unit maintenance checks. 12. Demonstrates proficiency with OPTIME/EPIC 13. Completes all mandatory competencies within posted time frames; i.e. moderate sedation, annual competency. QUALIFICATIONS 1. Current Ohio RN License and ADN. 2. Overview of Position: The surgical nurse practitioner will assist a surgeon in the global management of patient care in all peri-operative settings. The surgical nurse practitioner role will include providing diagnostic, therapeutic, surgical and preventative care under the supervision of a surgeon in one of the following specialties: General/Trauma Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Neurological Surgery, Otolaryngology, Plastic Surgery. The nurse practitioner will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting patient care, frequently advising patients on health maintenance and disease prevention or providing case management. ESSENTIAL DUTIES 1. Perform all manner of patient care in the office setting, as determined by the supervising surgeon. Specifically, but not exclusively, management of trauma patients, post-operative surgery patients, non-complex surgery consults. 2. First assistant in surgery – performs full first assist duties, including ensuring all needed equipment and supplies are present. Keep your surgical skills up to date with CME. 3. Respond to trauma activations and evaluate, manage trauma patients when relative. 4. Perform the assigned call duties when applicable—based on the specific surgical position. 5. Perform in-hospital surgery consultations. 6. Order and interpret laboratory studies and imaging. 7. Perform minor invasive procedures, central lines, intubations, chest tubes, etc. 8. Post-op – Writes orders in the recovery room, talks with family, visits patients, performs post-op procedures, and more. 9. Discharge planning – Dictates discharge summaries, writes prescriptions, explains discharge instructions, confirms follow-up appointments, and more. 10. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS 1. APRN: EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited APRN training program. 2. Current Ohio RN and APRN licensure 3. Must have a current certificate of authority and certificate to prescribe (or eligible) by the Ohio Board of Nursing. 4. Acute Care, Surgical, Critical Care, or Trauma Experience Preferred. 5. Preferred: APRNs requesting to be privileged as First Assists in peri-operative services will be required to complete an ANOR approved RNFA Certificate program and obtain a passing grade on the RNFA certification exam. 6.
