PURPOSE AND SCOPE: Supports FMCNA’s mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy. Ensure educational needs of patients are met and educate the patient and family about End Stage Renal Disease, dialysis therapy, diet and medication. Supervise the safe and effective use of all equipment involved in direct patient care. Operate all dialysis related and emergency equipment safely and efficiently when needed. Perform required testing and verification and initial the checklist for start-up and shut-down procedures as outlined in the Technical Services Manual. Department Overview The Division of Gastrointestinal and General Surgery is a comprehensive team of surgeons focused on the areas of colorectal surgery, esophageal surgery, hernia surgery, treatment of pancreatic cancer and surgical nutrition. Our general surgeons support numerous clinical research trials and actively partner with scientists in the community to develop innovative surgical devices. The general surgery division also encompasses one of the largest residency programs in the country, as well as fellowships in minimally invasive surgery and colorectal surgery. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in this role will deliver consistent, high-quality medical management to inpatients on the Abdominal Wall Surgery service, primarily within acute care units. The APP will work collaboratively with attending faculty, residents, interns and the broader interdisciplinary care team to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care, with a focus on clinical excellence, care coordination, and efficient discharge planning. Function/Duties of Position Clinical Duties- Assure the safe, efficient, high-quality quality and patient-centered management of care to patients, this includes but is not limited to: Completion of comprehensive assessment of the patient’s status; developing, monitoring, and revising, as appropriate, an evidence-based treatment plan that addresses diagnoses, patterns of disease, risk factors, and treatment alternatives; Interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe and manage medications and other therapies, provide health teaching with an emphasis on prevention of illness and health maintenance; and, refer patients to other healthcare professionals as necessary.
