Position Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Assesses health status of individuals, families, and communities; develops plans and implements appropriate nursing interventions. Evaluates and determines health resources necessary to meet individual, family and community health needs. Delivers professional nursing care in an assigned unit, clinic, home, or other setting. Educates individuals, families, communities, and members of the health care team about the principles of disease prevention and health promotion. Provides supervision to other professional or paraprofessional personnel; collaborates with other professionals in the management of health care. Delegate tasks that may safely be performed by others, consistent with educational preparation and that do not conflict with the provisions of the Oklahoma Nursing Practice Act. Assures quality health care through use of various measures such as record review, peer review, direct observation, and assessment of individual, family, and community for the desired outcome. Performs specialized nursing functions as educationally prepared. Minimum Qualifications: Requirements consist of possession of a valid Oklahoma license as a registered nurse as approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing or, Registered Nurse License recognized by the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC) and one year of professional nursing experience, OR, a Bachelor's in Nursing and possession of a valid permanent Oklahoma license as a Registered Nurse as approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing or, Registered Nurse License recognized by the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC) and two years of professional nursing experience in a field of nursing appropriate to the health care setting. Ability is required to develop, plan, and implement an effective nursing care program and to provide education and training. Physical Demands and Work Environment: Work is typically performed in an office setting with climate-controlled settings and exposure to moderate noise levels. While performing the duties of the job, employees are required to talk, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. This position requires long periods of sitting and daily use of computers and phones. Must be able to provide examinations 80% of the time. May be exposed to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances, and medicinal preparations. Employees must be willing to complete all job-related travel associated with this position. Use of N-95 respirator is required. Being present at the office is an essential function of the job. The Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner under the supervision of the facility physician, provides advanced nursing services and patient care in the facility’s medical program to inmates/residents. The successful applicant should be able to perform ALL of the following functions at a pace and level of performance consistent with the actual job performance requirements. Provide comprehensive nursing care to include, but not limited to, executing physician's orders, dispensing, and administering medications and performing examinations and treatment of patients; perform a variety of procedures and treatments. Order, interpret and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's clinical problems and health care needs. Record physical findings, formulate prognosis based on patient's condition, and discuss case with physician and other health professionals to prepare comprehensive patient care plan. The Registered Nurse (RN) must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit. This individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status, interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs. The RN is to plan for the provision of patient care including the development modification and implementation of the plan of care in accordance with BMC standards in order to deliver efficient, effective and quality patient care as described in the Patient Care policies and procedures. He/She is expected to adhere to and abide by the rules and regulations set forth by the Oklahoma Nursing Practice Act. This individual must also be willing to take call on a rotational basis and demonstrate teamwork and flexibility. This individual will monitor and supervise LPN’s as needed.
