The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for providing patient care services, determining medical conditions, and preparing patients for examination and treatment under the direction of the Provider. Key Responsibilities Admission Coordination Coordinate with the interdisciplinary team (nursing, therapy, dietary, social services) to prepare for the resident’s arrival. Ensure the appropriate room, equipment, and staff are ready. Provide orientation to the resident and family upon admission (policies, routines, rights, and expectations). Patient Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' wounds and overall health status to determine appropriate and individualized treatment plans. Pre-Admission & Referral Management Review incoming referrals from hospitals, clinics, or other facilities. Communicate with physicians and discharge planners to gather medical history, current care needs, and treatment plans. Dressing and Wound Care: Clean, dress, and manage wounds using sterile techniques, including performing or assisting with debridement when necessary. Treatment Planning: Develop and implement tailored wound care plans based on best practices, current research, and clinical evaluation. Monitoring and Documentation: Monitor and document wound healing progress accurately, updating care plans as needed to ensure optimal outcomes. Patient and Caregiver Education: Educate patients and their families on best practices for wound care, infection prevention, and healthy lifestyle choices to promote healing and prevent recurrence. Collaboration: Work closely with an interdisciplinary care team—including physicians, dietitians, physical therapists, and nursing staff—to coordinate comprehensive care. Infection Control and Compliance: Ensure all wound care practices adhere to infection control standards, regulatory guidelines, and facility protocols. Clinical Resource: Serve as a wound care resource and support for nursing staff, assisting with training and guidance on wound care procedures. Qualifications and Skills Licensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing in the state of Wyoming (required). Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Experience: Previous experience in wound care nursing or a related clinical specialty strongly preferred. Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required). Wound care certification (WCC, CWCN, or equivalent) preferred or willingness to obtain. Technical Skills: Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems. Strong clinical knowledge of current wound care research, protocols, products, and prevention strategies. Working Conditions Must be able to lift, push, and move equipment or patients as needed. What Certified Nursing Assistant contributes to Cardinal Health Nursing is responsible for the delivery of safe and efficient quality nursing care. Examines patients and administers prescribed medications to facilitate healing and increase comfort. Nursing requires training and or licensed to care for patients. Under general supervision, the Medical Assistant is responsible for providing patient care services, determining medical conditions, and preparing patients for examination and treatment under the direction of the Provider.
