Must possess a sincere desire to serve the ill, aged and infirm. Ability to read, write and speak the English language. Possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public. Willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel. Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning. Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability. Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and, at times, hostile people within the facility. e General Duties: Perform all duties as assigned and in accordance with facility’s established policies and procedures, nursing care procedures and safety rules and regulations. Make resident rounds at the beginning of each shift and every two hours thereafter to administer quality nursing care. Verify the identification of a resident before administering nursing care or serving food, to assure that appropriate care is being provided to the correct resident. Assure that water pitchers are cleaned, filled with fresh drinking water and within the resident’s reach. Other related duties as may become necessary or as directed by the Charge Nurse, RN Supervisor, Director of Nurses, or Administrator. The Patient Care Technician , working under the direct supervision of Registered Nurse, is primarily responsible for providing direct, non-invasive bedside care to patients. Essential Functions Prioritizes and delivers basic patient care, including bathing, toileting, feeding, grooming, etc. Performs and documents vital signs, measures and records intake and output, weights, specimen collections, etc. Transfers patients utilizing proper body mechanics and safe patient handling techniques. Reports any changes observed in condition or behavior of patient to appropriate nursing personnel. Assists in preparing unit, patient rooms, and patient beds for receiving patient admissions. Maintains bed and room in a clean, neat, safe, and comfortable manner. Removes supplies and equipment not in use; placing furnishings and equipment out of the path in order to provide a safe, neat, and organized area. Adheres to patient rounding expectations and standards. Assists in maintaining a physical, social, and psychological environment conducive to providing maximal patient comfort and optimizing healing. Promptly and appropriately responds to patient and family calls and requests. Appropriately designates applicable charges to individual patients using hospital’s established system. Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff. Assesses environmental risks for safety and implements appropriate precautions. Complies with appropriate and approved safety and Infection Prevention standards. Maintains regular attendance in keeping with assigned work schedule. Performs other duties as assigned to support overall effectiveness of the organization. Minimum Job Requirements Minimum Education & Experience High school diploma or GED equivalent. 2 years of experience in inpatient hospital setting preferred. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of current clinical operations and procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of appropriate Infection Prevention and proper body mechanics. Demonstrates general computer skills including data entry, word processing, email, and records management. Demonstrates critical thinking skills.
