If so, we have opportunities available for you in the following area: 1 YBH is a 14-bed inpatient unit that evaluates, treats, and monitors adolescents aged 12 to 15 who need acute psychiatric stabilization. Our goal is to stabilize the current crisis, engage natural and community supports, and assist individuals in planning for further care as clinically indicated. We aim to provide competent psychiatric stabilization through various methods, including evaluation, assessment, observation, monitoring, and treatment of medical conditions; psychotropic medication treatment; family engagement; and therapy management. Additionally, we teach patients skills to avoid future crises and reduce rapid readmissions by arranging discharge and aftercare appointments through community providers and making direct aftercare referrals to providers that need to be involved in the individual’s care. UNC Hospitals Youth Behavioral Health is a 54 bed inpatient psychiatric facility located in Butner, NC. The hospital is composed of 4 units designed to care for child and adolescent patients with a variety of common mental health diagnoses, including those with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and with Autism Spectrum Disorder. In a milieu-based, trauma-informed, therapeutic setting, patients are treated by a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Therapy Services Social Workers, Nursing Services, Pharmacy, Pastoral Care and Nutrition Services. Safety is the key component of the care provided as well as introduction of positive coping skills, healthy living and positive leisure activities. This is a Per Diem/ at-will position requiring the ability to generally work a minimum of 12 hours every 2 weeks; Day & Night Rotating shifts, general hours are 7am-7:30pm & 7pm-7:30am, with weekend and holiday rotation. This position requires the ability to attend orientation and training at the UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill. Summary: Provides routine direct and indirect patient care in a hospital, clinic or home health care setting. All work performed is under the direct supervision of a registered nurse or physician. Responsibilities: 1. Assist physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures, as well as procurement of equipment and supplies during emergency situations. 2. In the psychiatric setting, aids patients in reality orientation, participates in behavior modification plans/therapy, provides informal support therapy to patients/families, provides verbal de-escalation of potentially aggressive patients, aids in the physical management of aggressive/out-of-control patients, facilitates age appropriate play for children, and monitors the therapeutic milieu activities on assigned unit to ensure that emotional and safety needs of patients are met. 3. Observes, collects, and documents patient information obtained while providing care and promptly report significant changes in the patient's condition to a registered nurse or physician. 4. Provides assistance to patients and their families during admission to the clinical area, orientation to the hospital/clinic/home health experience, and discharge 5. Paid Vacation / Sick Time / 7 Paid Holidays Excellent - Medical / Dental / Vision Benefits / 401K Free Meal each shift CNA: must be licensed in North Carolina verifiable through online registry MT: must be a licensed Medication Aide verifiable through online registry must be able to provide certificate of completion of 10-hour and 5-hour or 15-hour Medication Technician Certification course (we will certify after 90 days of solid employment) What will I do every day as a MT? Observe residents for any changes in condition and report to supervisor Assist residents with simple requests as needed Document and report changes of condition Provide medication set up and assistance Log in medications from pharmacies, verify physician’s orders and communicate any concerns Track all medications and re-order as needed Track residence vital signs, diabetic testing and/or insulin injection, ambulation, etc. What will I need to be successful in this role? Bring a smile to work every day Be a great team player High school education or GED equivalent preferred Nursing assistant course completion Special Requirements/Certifications I may need? First Aid certification and CPR, if required Must meet state training requirements and/or certifications Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA) What will I do every day?
