  • Assists nurses by performing various basic care activities related to services essential to caring for the personal needs and comfort of patient
  • Dresses, grooms, bathes, feeds, takes and records vital signs of patients
  • Answers call lights, assists in toileting, oral care, nail care, catheter care, assists patients in wheel chairs, transports, turns bedridden patients, reports patient changes, and takes out trash
  • Requires certification as a Nurse Assistant; functions may not exceed Standards of Practice as accorded by certification
  • Provides simple or uncomplicated patient care
  • Cleans room and changes bed linen
  • Takes and records temperature, pulse, and respiration rate
  • Gives medication as directed by Physician or Nurse and makes notation of amount and time given
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum age requirements is 18 years
  • Valid driver's license, with satisfactory driving record, as defined by agency policy
  • Certification, if required by state licensure as a CNA or Home Health Care Aide in the state in which the aide is to provide care
  • Completion of a recognized home care aide training program or 6 months of recent experience as an aide
  • Must be able to utilize proper body mechanics while lifting and may be expected to lift up 75 lbs.; must be able to sit, stand, and walk for periods of time and bend, stoop, push, pull, and reach

Additionally, we teach patients skills to avoid future crises and reduce rapid readmissions by arranging discharge and aftercare appointments through community providers and making direct aftercare referrals to providers that need to be involved in the individual’s care. UNC Hospitals Youth Behavioral Health is a 54 bed inpatient psychiatric facility located in Butner, NC. The hospital is composed of 4 units designed to care for child and adolescent patients with a variety of common mental health diagnoses, including those with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and with Autism Spectrum Disorder. In a milieu-based, trauma-informed, therapeutic setting, patients are treated by a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Therapy Services Social Workers, Nursing Services, Pharmacy, Pastoral Care and Nutrition Services. Safety is the key component of the care provided as well as introduction of positive coping skills, healthy living and positive leisure activities. This is a Per Diem/ at-will position requiring the ability to generally work a minimum of 12 hours every 2 weeks; Day & Night Rotating shifts, general hours are 7am-7:30pm & 7pm-7:30am, with weekend and holiday rotation. This position requires the ability to attend orientation and training at the UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill.
